I'm working the downtime mechanics out with my AL GM. We're both new to the league format but the impact of catching up on XP is not in the AL Player's Guide v7.0. Is there a citable document that explicitly defines how XP is handled during catching up?
Yeah, the guide isn't too clear. It just says you go to the next level. It's implied that you start at the XP of that level, but it doesn't explicitly say that. It'd be awesome if you just added your XP from 4th to 5th to what your current 4th level xp is. That'd let you play some more at T1 while also not losing out on the XP you're gaining at 4th level.

When you use downtime days to catch up from 4 to 5, you set your base XP to that of level 5 regardless of how much XP you had at level 4, correct?
That is correct. You'll have 6500 xp
