I'm looking at the Woodland Manse location in DoIP.
There is a group of orcs hanging out in an upstairs room, but the only staircase is trapped. I know my players are going to question this: How do the orcs come and go?
Maybe they know the secret to the trap and how to not set it off?
Maybe they set the trap when they go up the stairs?
They could potentially enter and exit through the hole in the floor.
If the players ask have their characters roll an insight (or get them to explain how they would like to use another skill, this way you can custom an answer based on what they roll) Or just make the entire thing fast paced so it doesnt cross their minds :) (that is what I did when I took my players through it)
They could potentially enter and exit through the hole in the floor.
That's how I did it when I ran the module -- made for a more interesting encounter, too, as the orcs went out of the room by the hole, or called in reinforcements through it as well.
