Hey folks, I just noticed that hazards in the new DMG 2024 have ratings for difficulty but don't specifically award XP.
I'm assuming that the Yellow Mold from Miner Difficulties being a "Deadly Hazard (Levels 1–4)" and the new DMG 2024 uses the word "High" in place of the word "Deadly" from the DMG 2014 but still the XP Budget per Character is the same for levels 8 and lower, I'm interpreting this to mean that if the players can "avoid" or deal with this "Deadly" hazard at level 2 that I should award party XP for a "High" encounter at level 2, which means 200 XP each.
Does anyone else agree with this interpretation of the DMG 2024 or should we just not award XP for traps anymore?
You weren't 'supposed' to award xp for traps in 2014 (you could do so under the rules for non-combat challenges, but it wasn't based on the damage value of the trap), and there's no reason to think 2024 is different.
