I've been working and in contact with the original players at Gygax's original D&D table to convert their characters to 5E. Each player provides me with an updated history of their character, which I then put into PDF format. Below is a sample of the product, the finished product will probably look entirely different. It will be free for the community, and I hope to have it finished by August 2017. Thanks for the interest!
If you have any suggestions, please post them below! :D
I love this idea! Really liked reading about Leason's character. This is the kind of stuff that helped define the origins of D&D. I can't wait to see more.
Have you determined where we will be able to download this?
Would you ever consider converting important characters for other important D&D staff members from either TSR or WotC? Maybe it could become a series.

I'll have a full PDF available, probably either linked through my account here or externally. That's still up for debate. As for converting other important characters for other important D&D staff members from TSR or WotC, I'm totally up for that too. It's just a matter of legality: for example, I can't convert any of Gary or Ernie Gygax's characters because they fall under the OGL.

Interesting... what if you published OGL linked characters through the DM's Guild? Aren't publishers allowed to use the content there? Just a thought.

Thank you for doing this for the community. The final product should make for a very fascinating read.

The issue is that proper nouns of copyrighted characters aren't allowed: so Tenser, Mordenkainen, Bigby, etc. can't be touched.
