The 2024 5e design process was performed largely by committee, relying on online survey to approve or disapprove of changes. The result is changes that are unbalanced, poorly-designed, unsatisfying to use, and take away from what defined each class and balance between them. So I started a project to re-revise each 5e class in a way that maintains its identity and flavour while expanding on its existing features. Instead of taking away things, things are built upon. Instead of redefining a class, classes' roles are strengthened with new tools.
I also revised Weapon Mastery, a mechanic that incentivises focusing on one or two properties to exploit rather than meaningful choice. This new system, Weapon Exploits, better balances these properties. Weapons aren't locked to a single property, encouraging options rather than focusing on one. Fighters have a unique niche with being able to use Weapon Exploits more often. Alternate feats based around Weapon Exploits are also included.
