I am running a campaign that is VERY dragon themed and at level four they are going up against their first dragon very soon (young green dragon). Based off prior fantastical creatures that they have slain, they are going to attempt to harvest the dragon for parts. RAW, the only armor I could find that is crafted from dragon parts is Dragon Scale Mail, however, the entire party wears light armor and I don't want them to feel like they are only getting a monetary reward from their very hard work. I was considering allowing them to use the skin of the dragon, after removing the scales, for Dragon Leather or Dragon Studded Leather armor; which would basically just be a direct swap of the armor type. I feel like that might be significantly more powerful than the normal scale mail version?? I was also considering letting them have shields crafted from the scales too, and maybe daggers and short swords from the teeth that would be +1 and +1 damage die with poison damage type with a CON save rider to resist that damage. I also do not want to flood them with gear that makes the next few levels of the campaign easy mode for them. Community, what input do you have for me?
For reference, I am running a three story arc campaign that is LMoP (not Shattered Obelisk) + roughly half the chapters from DoIP for arc 1, ToD:HotDQ for arc 2, and ToD:RoT for arc 3 and then depending on the outcome there, maybe an encore arc of going into Avernus to stick it more directly to Tiamat as a final send off.
It also says how to craft it. I believe the Studded Leather +1 it talks about being made from green dragon hide requires attunement and conveys a swimming speed of 30 feet.
