Sup, biscuitheads, I decided to put some of the items I concocted for the game I was DMing on here to see what y'all think, I've felt like a strength of mine as a DM is interesting original items. I'm proud of it so be nice and/constructive, plz. Also, the formatting for the stat block is weird, sorry, I'm not good at computers.
I named it Needler.
This druid-crafted bow appears to be only a slightly curved, gnarled branch at first glance. Further inspection reveals it to be a masterwork longbow of living wood with several unique properties.
All attack and damage rolls with Needler gain a +1 bonus. Attacks against undead gain an additional +1 bonus to damage.
Needler, as its namesake might suggest, can utilize common pine needles as ammunition. When a pine needle is held while the string is pulled, the needle extends in length to accommodate the draw of the bow. As such, the bow can be overdrawn when using needles as ammunition. When overdrawing the bow in this way, you gain a -2 penally to your attack roll, but gain a +4 bonus to your damage roll. Needles otherwise deal damage as would a regular arrow.
While the bow is properly attuned, it sprouts pale pink flowers throughout the day. The flowers begin to bud by morning, fully sprouting by afternoon, and the petals begin to wither and fall by nighttime, even while underground or indoors. While the flowers are in bloom, the bow deals an extra 1d8 radiant damage against undead.
Proficiency with a longbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
I feel like there's a lot of numbers to keep up with here. I'd either replace the -2 for overdrawing with disadvantage or take away the proficiency bonus making the whole attack rely on strength. I also love the flower flavor. Stat-wise I hope that just means during the day it does that damage. That's a really great little piece that seems like nothing, but the fact that it stills does it underground means players have some sort of clock even in the underdark. I really like it. This is a cool item, man.
Thanks so much for the feedback and kind words:) I was also pretty stoked on the flowers bit, seems insignificant, but can be incredible useful far underground. And yes, the extra damage was intended to be only during the day, while the flowers are blooming. So perhaps only a third of the day or so, DM discretion.
