I am creating a ranger subclass. I want to give the class a level 2,3,4 and 5 level spell. I don't want them to count against the spell they know. How do I go about that?

you see the box that says additional spell list in the subclass editor enter the spells you want into the box

That won’t work in this case. Rangers are “Spontaneous Casters,” so adding spells there will simply add them to the list of spells that character could potentially learn.
If this was a “Prepared Caster” (Artificer, Cleric, Druid, or Paladin) then adding them as you suggested would have worked, but not for spontaneous casters (Bard, Ranger, Sorcerer, Warlock), they were programmed differently since when the site was designed that’s how all of their subclasses were supposed to work.

You will have to create a Class Feature named “Subclass Spells” or some other such. In that class feature you will need to use the Spells->Add a Spell function. Add each spell individually, if you add them all together then it will give them a choice of one spell, not grant them all of the spells. So you’re going to need to do this:
Spell: [1st-level spell]
Consumes Spell Slot: Yes
Counts as Known: No
Available at Level: 2
Then simply do the same for each of the other spells, except the “Available at Level” will need to be different for each spell.
After you save those spells, save the class feature, and then you MUST re-save the entire Homebrew using the main [SAVE CHANGES] button under Basic Information.
Hey for some reason I tried it and it didnt work, is there a an update that changed how it works?? I wanted to make a ranger that gets spells like horizon walker ranger did.

I hope that helps.
