Copper manages to deflect the longsword blows again and the claws can't find any kinks in his armor, but the one creature's bite finally finds some purchase on some exposed skin, causing Copper to grimace.
"Now you're starting to get me a bit upset here," Copper says.
He swings his battle axe up, hard, searching for the chin of the creature in front of him (#9).
Battle Axe: Attack: 18 Damage: 6 (and if he fails his save above, the second attack roll for disadvantage would be 18 ).
If the attack hits, Copper will call on the energy of the clan and bring down a Divine Smite on #9 for an additional 13 radiant damage
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
“That really hurts!!” Exclaims Ruby as the claw attack of one of the beasts gets through her armor. She’s bleeding pretty good now. Happy that she only has one near her at the moment as she is feeling a bit overwhelmed, she attacks the thing with her blades and then uses a bit of fancy footwork to move 2 to the right.
Douth's blade narrowly misses the creature, but Friar, Copper, and Ruby fell three more foes and cut the attacking horde's remaining numbers in half. The bloodbath has seemingly weakened the resolve in two of the creatures (#4 and #8), who cease fighting and flee eastward.
One lone monster continues the fight, turning its longsword yet again on Copper...
“Whew Copper, that was one mean hit!! And dang, where did these things come from? I think we best be a little more stealthy.” She takes assessment of her current state and realizes that one more hit would have taken her out. “I’m not doing well, Friar, could use anything you’re offering.”
With the heat of battle behind you, you're able to assess your surroundings more thoroughly. To the south of you, approximately 60' away, lies a large mass on the floor. The dim light makes it difficult to discern what it might be, but it seems the lizard creatures must have set the object down when they launched themselves into battle.
Copper places one hand on Ruby's shoulder and another on Douth's. He nods to both and smiles.
"Those creatures will think twice before attacking dwarves again," Copper says.
As he speaks, energy flows from his hands and into their shoulders, finding it's way to their injuries and causing some relief of pain.
Lay on Hands - 10 HP to Ruby and 10 HP to Douth.
"But we still missed something. How did they get behind us?" Copper asks, but then he notices the mass on the floor. "And what's this?"
First he pulls his spear from the body of the dead lizard creature. Wipes off the spearhead then walks over to the mass on the floor. He approaches with curiosity.
When Copper is within twenty feet of the object, he recognizes it as a humanoid body. Taking a few more steps allows him to see that it's a duergar, motionless, and bound around the wrists. Standing next to the duergar allows Copper to see that it's Riv; he's alive but badly wounded and unconscious.

After healing Douth, Friar heads over and joins Copper, casting light so as to see better. As Riv is injured, will case cure light wounds again for 9
Ruby takes in Coppers healing gratefully. She kneels and breathes deeply as a few of her wounds heal. Then she sees her friends head back to where the creatures were and get up to go join them.
”What?! Riv!! What is this? What is going on? Please, once you have caught your breath enlighten us with your tale.”
Riv coughs and sputters as he sits up. He looks upon all of you with bewilderment, and his initial words are a bit disjointed. "Where?...Pelik...Torik...the troglodytes..."
Copper looks back the way the escaping troglodytes went to make sure they weren't returning while the group's attention was diverted. Then he looks back down at Riv.
"We have not seen the others," Coppers says. "Ten of the trogs rushed us but dumped you here before they attacked. Unfortunately two escaped. Not sure they would have revealed much under questioning but it would have been worth a try."
Copper bends down, takes out his dagger and cuts the rope binding Riv's hands.
Riv remains a bit wild-eyed as he listens to Douth and Copper; he then slowly explains. "The twins and I encountered one of our missing clan members--Miznak-- but he was with a horde of troglodytes. He was elusive when answering questions about where he has been, where the other four clan members might be, and why he is consorting with the vile lizard men. Pelik, Torik and I pressed him for explanations, but Miznak insisted that we follow him. 'What you seek will be revealed soon,' was all he would say. The conversation became more heated, weapons were drawn, and...now here I am. Where are the twins? And Miznak...did you see him?"

Updated map:
Copper faces the lizard creature and pushes one blade attack aside with his shield and deflects the other with his axe.
"You were warned not to interfere with the Immercleave," Copper says.
He raises his axe and brings it down as hard as he can.
Battle Axe against #10: Attack: 18 Damage: 7
Cleaving the creature through its collarbone and deep into its chest, Copper slays the last aggressor.
Friar checks the party, anyone need healing?
