"If this is a regular passage you would think there would be some kind of way to either climb up and down or get across the gap." Jane moves to the edge and peers over, looking for some kind of handholds or pegs or other signs that would indicate an established way to climb up or down. She then stands up and tries to peer across at the other side for any signs of regular crossing as well.
Nimble little Bree bounces on her toes, looking anxiously into the darkness and then over at the extension of the hallway. 'I could sneak down there and check things out if you want...'
SUMMARY AND ACTION
The other half of the hallway is 25ft across and 10 feet to the right. The rift runs in both directions into the darkness. The wall directly across from you is rough earth and stone with plenty of handholds.
A reminder that you can jump a distance equivalent to your strength score if you can take a running start of at least 10 feet (you can) - so if your strength is 18 you can jump 18 feet.
Celeste pops up on their tip toes to hover over the group from the back. Blue hues look around, half wondering what all the fuss was about. She’d listen to everyone’s thoughts, politely waiting for most to share before jumping into action. The blonde holds out her ceramic potted shrub, expression super serious as she looks at Z expectantly. “Guard this with your life!”Making him (or another) take the pot, she grabs hold of a rope and ties it around her waist. “Okay maybe not like with your life, life… but like… please be careful.” She bats her lashes. “I like my Potts.“ Then with a passive hum, the blonde struts forward. “Don’t forget to tie the other end of the rope.” She stretches her limbs up high and out, and bobs on her feet. “Boo whoop!” Celeste chimes with a hop and a ‘pouf’. Her physical form shifts into that of an eight legged arachnid.
The giant wolf spider with multiple blue eyes that replaced the woman chitters, spins and pops. After drumming her eight limbs once or twice, she skitters up onto the wall to the other side. Celeste had a plan. Her intention is to assist the others across by first securing a rope hold for them to cross and spin a web along the chasm to save a potential fall. If she’s able to use this webbing as a starting point, she’d desire to keep a string connected along as she travels to keep her senses on their backs. She’d also be willing to scout around in the dark crook and crannies to save Bree, and the others, the risk.
Wildshape: Giant Wolf Spider Passive Spidey Senses (perception): 15 Stealth: 22 Using spider climb to her advantage, hoping to secure a rope to provide help and wondering if she can web for a safety net and web sense.
Spider Climb. The spider can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.
Web Sense. While in contact with a web, the spider knows the exact location of any other creature in contact with the same web.
Web Walker. The spider ignores movement restrictions caused by webbing.
Celeste transforms into an oversized spider and scurries down and then quickly back up the far side of the rift. She sees the rift narrow and close to her right and open and expand into a cavern of some sort to the left.
She makes her way up the far side of the rift and gets to the other half of the hallway, the rough edges of the marble scratching at her belly as she comes over the edge. The tiles here match those from the hallway she left, confirming that this was indeed the same hallway. It runs 30 feet down before ending in a sold stone door, intricately carved with a Dragon reared back to full height with flame roaring out.
SUMMARY AND ACTION
Celeste has pulled a rope and webbing across the chasm, giving you a path across. DC 12 strength check with ADV to get to the other side of the Hallway.

Hoghead stifles a yelp as the spider appears. He disliked spiders but, although Celeste was a bit chipper for his taste, it was hard to dislike her. You're pretty handy to have around. I guess we shouldn't waste this path you've made for us. With that, Hoghead makes his way across. STR 17
The spider extends up high as if on it's tip toes, then drops down to it's belly, then back up again in happy bobs, letting out a little gurgling purr sound at Hoghead's acceptance. She then scampers up the wall and onto the ceiling, to hang over him and the others from above.

Bree scoots across the roping (Acrobatics 26) and quickly joins Hogshead at the door. As the brutish warrior shoves against the door, the slender halfling looks it over, attempting to find the mechanism to open the heavy stone door. (Investigation 12)
The halfling looks up at the spider on the ceiling and back to the rest of the party 'I'm not sure what this door needs, but it's not these' she holds up her lockpicks 'and shrugs her shoulders.'
SUMMARY AND ACTION
The door is heavy stone, intricately carved with the image of a rearing dragon breathing fire from its maw. It didn't budge when Hogshead shoved it and Bree can't see any lock to pick.
Z looks over the door carefully and sees ..... nothing. There is no keyhole, no handle, no obvious mechanism to move it. It's a door - just not clear how to get it to open.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
When Spider-Celeste witnesses Z cross safely with Potts, the arachnid gestures with a limb as if she were giving a thumbs up for his success.
At Hoghead’s underwhelming attempts at opening the dragon door, soft tapping of spider feet could be heard. Rubbing her ‘chin’ with one limb Celeste meanders and pats along the walls and such with the rest of her limbs to complete an investigation of her own. Perhaps what they’re looking could be somewhere else, maybe not even on this side…
Or maybe it’s not a button or lever at all…
After poking about on either side of the areas, Celeste would bounce back to her last thought. Her many eyes linger on the fire breathing dragon depicted on the door. Suddenly, she drops down from the ceiling with an idea. Spidey Celeste butts up against Zerxius’ back and pushes, nudging him forward towards the door. Using one of her many spare limbs, she encourages (guides) his torched arm to hold the flame up to the door to see if the fire does anything.

Jane makes her way across the rope and webbing along with the group. (Strength: 5 ). She takes out a couple of woodcarving tools from her backpack and tries to see if the can work a chisel into the door jam and maybe pry it open that way. ((I don't know what kind of check, maybe Investigation? 8, I have proficiency with the tools.))
As the party gathers around the door, poking and prodding and looking for a way through, the spidery limb helps Zerexius' torch graze against the stone-carved fire.
The torch fire flares a bit brighter, the stone seeming to drink in the flames. A soft glow begins to build from inside, but you get the sense it's not quite enough of whatever this portal demands for passage.
