The Redbrand complies, and the group makes it over the pit, returning to the room with the cistern.
Before escorting the prisoners back to town, Sildar says, "I can bring this Redbrand with me to the jail as well, if you would like, and meet me at the Townmaster's Hall?"
"Splendid idea Sildar!" cried Nemean as he quickly strode across the room. "I'm sure we'll be right behind you, can't imagine there's too many surprises left in here." He draws his scimitars and energetically bursts through through the door next to the cistern on the west end of the room.

"Sure, just make sure he doesn't get away." Argos exchanges his Redbrand prisoner over to Sildar. Argos heads over to the east door and enters it. "These stairs lead up, I'm guessing it's a way out."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sildar examines the east door and confirms Argos's theory, finding that it leads to the ruined first floor of the manor. "Don't worry, he's an easy target if he tries something stupid. Besides, I think his time in the pit did him some good," Sildar says to Argos. He leads the Redbrand away at the point of his longsword, and gently gathers the prisoners before escorting them all back to town. Droop sticks close to the party.
Nemean casually saunters into the room to the west and finds three Redbrands lounging, who are just as surprised to see him as he is to see them. After a brief moment of shock as everyone registers what has suddenly happened, there is a shout and a flurry of action as they reach for their swords laying nearby.
Nemean gawks at the Redbrands for a moment before he shouts a vulgar expletive in his native tongue and turns around. He slams the door and stumbles into Tarok. “Lets draw them out here, no sense getting stuck in another bottleneck.” He signals at the others to step back so they can prepare ranged attacks and quickly makes his way to the other side of the cistern.
Edit OOC: I would also like Nemean to sheath one scimitar as a free action as he repositions himself.

"They don't walk out of here alive, boys! If Glasstaff finds out we was slackin', he'll have our heads!" The Redbrands give chase, taking a volley of attacks as they file out of the room. The first one out is immediately met with a bolt of fire from Cinis, taking 6 fire damage, before Argos looses an arrow into his brain, dealing 3 piercing damage and killing him not 5 feet from the doorway. The second Redbrand leaps through the dissipating flame, charging at Cinis with his shortsword, but is interrupted by Tarok's maul shattering his head into pieces, taking 11 bludgeoning damage and falling headlessly to the ground before Cinis. Directly behind him, the last Redbrand drops his shortsword and his jaw. "Gods, please don't kill me, I surrender!" he says, and kneels on the ground with his hands raised.
OOC: Combat is over, and each character receives 75 XP for defeating the three Redbrands. Additionally, each character receives 25 XP for returning the Redbrands' prisoners to town alive.
Argos, Cinis and Nemean have reached 3rd level! Take a moment to manage your new level on your character sheets. I have added the rolls below to your rolled HP, and your modifiers should add automatically once you manage your level.
Argos: 7 Cinis: TBD, will roll once I hear from you on which level you are taking Nemean: 8
The Redbrands' Hideout has been fully explored. What else would you like to do here? You have one Redbrand here who has just surrendered, two unconscious Redbrands where Argos knocked them out in their Common Room, and Droop to deal with as well.
Argos walks up to Droop, giving him one of his rations. "Here, you earned this. You may be a goblin, but you seem alright, for now. You may want to stay here while we deal with the Redbrands, but we'll need to have a talk soon."
"We should take the rest of our Redbrand prisoner into town and lock them up. I'm sure the Lords' Alliance will deal with them amply." Argos ties up the unconscious Redbrands, dragging them along all with one rope into town.
"Indeed, this goblin proved truer than most the humans of this town. Not sure if that's an argument for goblins or against the town.I think we have earned a good ale and a rest at the Inn. Perhaps we can decide what to do in the morning over some bacon and eggs? It seems to me that our choice is whether or not to immediately pursue whoever Glasstaff was answering to, or to take a detour and visit the town of Thundertree where that townswoman said a great heirloom was kept. Do any of you remember any other leads we might pursue?" Tarok says to the others, shoving the last Redbrand along with his gore-caked maul as they walk.
"Didn't that half-elf say something about a well or something? That could be where they took the dwarf. But Tarok is right, we need to rest." Cinis said as he absentmindedly stroked the new staff in his hands.

OOC: Don't want to advance out of the hideout before Nemean posts. In the meantime I will type up a summary of where we're at since all the conversation in town was months ago.
Word has spread quickly of your exploits, and by the time you lead the captive Redbrands out of their hideouts, a small gathering has arrived to cheer the procession along to the Townmaster's Hall, hailing the new heroes of Phandalin ("Hail The Righteous Four!") and jeering the Redbrands being led by rope.
Sildar has already arrived at the Townmaster's Hall when you enter, and the Redbrands are locked in the cellar jail, amidst an ineffective protest by townmaster Harbin Wester - "You're certain this is all of them? I didn't want trouble. If they retaliate this is on you!".
Sildar hands you a pouch with 200 gold pieces in it, 50 pieces for each member of The Righteous Four. "Though Iarno is dead and unable to face proper punishment by the Lord's Alliance, you have done this town and this region a great favor. This gold is well earned. Should you discover the location of Cragmaw Castle, please come find me. I would love to fight alongside you once more to rescue Gundren. I will continue searching for the castle on my end once I am able, but you may want to talk to Qelline Alderleaf at her farm. I have heard that she is friends with an adventurer who may know the area."
OOC: 50 gp has been added to each character's inventory. Excellent work in the Redbrand's Hideout, everyone! Now that we're back in town, feel free to post multiple actions at once to keep things flowing - if you want to buy items, rest, talk to specific people, etc. I'll summarize where we currently stand and the leads you have so far:
Agatha's Lair - Sister Garaele, the elf who tends the Shrine of Luck in town, gave you a jeweled silver comb and asked you to visit the lair of the banshee Agatha in the ruins of Conyberry to the northeast, appeal to her vanity by offering the comb, and ask for the location of the legendary mage Bowgentle's spellbook. She has offered you some potions of healing if you return to her with the answer.
Old Owl Well - Daran Edermath, the retired adventurer in town, asked you to find out who is lurking near the ruins of Old Owl Well to the northeast. Prospectors in the foothills have reported sightings of undead in the area.
Wyvern Tor - Townmaster Harbin Wester has offered a bounty of 100 gold pieces for chasing orcs away from an encampment near Wyvern Tor to the northeast.
Thundertree - Mirna Dendrar told you that you were welcome to a valuable family heirloom in her family's shop in the ruins of Thundertree to the northwest as thanks for rescuing her and her family from being sold into slavery by the Redbrands.
Cragmaw Castle - Sildar has offered you 500 gold pieces to find Cragmaw Castle, search for Gundren Rockseeker (your original employer), rescue him, and retrieve his map to Wave Echo Cave, the lost mine of the Phandelver's Pact that once contained a magical forge. You do not yet know where Cragmaw Castle is, but learned that someone or something called "The Black Spider" had been corresponding with Glasstaff, the leader of the Redbrands. Sildar has also suggested that Qelline Alderleaf may be of some help.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Harbin you miserable lout!" Growled Nemean "You didn't want trouble!? These Redbrands had nearly taken over the entire town on your watch, now you have the audacity to tell us you you cannot be bothered. You bring shame to your people!" He then turns to Sildar and clasps his hand "Thank you my friend, its been good traveling with you again. We'll be sure to keep an eye and an ear out for this Cragmaw castle. Join us for dinner tomorrow night at the inn and we'll celebrate a bit and discuss our next move." He turns and leaves the Townmasters Hall and sets off about town.
Nemean beams as people on the street recognize him as one of the righteous four. He revels in the attention and prances proudly through the streets as he makes several stops all over town, his new coin burning a hole in his pocket.
Fist Nemean decides that he will indulge his vanity, after exploring the town he stops into the most fashionable establishment he can find. He purses the available garments looking for something suitable for a hero like him. He spends time trying on different outfits fussing over the slightest details before he finds a bright and dazzling shirt which he can wear around town. Nemean purchases Clothes, Fine for 15gp.
Next he decides that he needs to do something for the loyal Droop. He walks about town thinking about what he could possibly do for the pathetic goblin whose only talent seems to be licking the floor for cheap laughs. He mulls the idea until he sees a merchant selling a smattering of old musical instruments. "Ah-ha! That's just what he needs!" Nemean purchases a Flute for 2gp. He fiddles with the instrument trying to remember the tune of an old Tabaxi song from his youth.
Nemean then makes his way to the local brewer to haggle for some supplies. He hadn't the spare coin to try any brewing since he arrived in Faerun, but now he was eager to try and recreate the distinctive ale from his homeland. He purchases Brewer's Supplies for 20gp. He speaks with the local brew master and offers to share his Tabaxi recipe with the town in exchange for helping him find the closest ingredients and matching the flavor. Persuasion9.
Satisfied with his shopping spree Nemean returns to the inn and begins to setup the brewing equipment in his room.
OOC: Nemean's shopping spree comes to a total of 37gp. Let me know if any of those items would be unavailable in Phandalin and I'll remove them. Also I'm not very familiar with how brewing supplies would work in game, but I would love to brew up some of Nemean's Golden Ale to celebrate the occasion.
Sorry I went dark there guys, hope a big post today helps make up for it. I'm really excited to finally make it to level 3! Having a lot of fun with this character.
Tarok smiles and waves merrily at the crowd. His newfound popularity and acclaim is clearly a welcome break from the sideways glances he is used to attracting due to his heritage. He wears a proud grin as he passes through the town, gore-caked maul still slung over his shoulder.
After plans are set for dinner at the Inn with Sildar, and everyone begins to disperse, Tarok decides to do a bit of shopping before he returns to the Inn for a rest. "That sword I picked up in the bandit hideout was of decent make. A nice shield to match it would be a sound investment." he thinks to himself. Heading over to the Lionshield Coster, Tarok picks out a sturdy looking Shield, and pays the merchant 10 gold pieces. He also grabs another pouch of Crossbow Bolts to ensure he has enough for coming battles, for another 1 gold piece and some Clothes, Traveler's for 2 gold pieces.
Pleased with his purchases, Tarok heads back to the Stonehill Inn and catch up with the others and wind down for a well earned rest.
Cinis just nodded and followed his companions, not bothering to look at the armory.
