"So you have chosen... death." Otbium says in a booming voice.
DM: I am considering Ylis' Teleportation an aggressive action relative to Otbium. So everyone roll for Initiative and we will see where this falls in that order.
Riven’s eye narrowed as he tracks Sue’s every move, the fletching of his arrow still pressed against his cheek. The moment drags on.....
And then, he vanished.
No sound. No warning. No visible spell work from where Riven perches in the mist. One moment the man is there, in desperate conversation with Joy, and the next, nothing.
The magical pattern doesn’t flare. The pillars don’t react. Just that ridiculous carrot, blocking the ritual path. Riven’s brow furrows.
Did he choose that, or did someone else choose it for him? Was that mercy, or interference?
He exhales through his nose, slow and controlled, and eases the bowstring back.
He doesn’t lower his guard.
He doesn’t move.
He just watches.
And wonders, what in the hells is going on over there?
Vazo'yn, whose attention was focused on the arcane ward between him and the pillar, was taken off guard by Ylis's sudden action. His golden eyes snap to Otbium at the sound of the Betrayer God's shouted threat that echoed throughout the chamber.
It begins, is all he has time to think to himself.
"Souls?" Giles says to himself, hearing the betrayal God.
The dwarven monk closes his eyes, eases his breath, and puts his hand on the magic bubble. Instead of trying to probe or push, he is trying to pull ... to welcome. "Come to me" he thinks, he offers, "Come to me" he whispers. Each of his five finger tips touch the bubble. "It is OK, I am here to help, come back to the living" he says, both by voice and by thought. "Escape this prison."
He knows that all around him the others are trying things, how to figure out what needs to happen in this place to save the world. All of them are tactical, skilled, and capable.
But Giles knows that talking has never been his strength. Fighting has, and pushing boundries, physically and mentally. So mental it is. "It's OK. Do you see the five points, step through the middle. The fellowship will help you, and you will help us save the rest."
He senses things escalating around him, he is ready to break away from the magical field, if there is no response, no ... attempt to join him. He will rest his Staff of Birdcalls against the bubble and activate the sound of a song bird, cheerful and happy.
Giles feels the tortured souls reach out to him. Millions of lives desperately trying to take his hand to be saved from this pained existence, as their essence is used to fuel the ritual. Some, he can sense, realize it is futile to reach out for help in this state. Instead, they reach out to Giles and give help. He gets the sense that these souls belong to some heavily seasoned heroes. Legends known across Exandria. It is not much, but that they could give at all is a remarkable feat. He can feel hope flow into him and empower him.
Moonlight thrummed in her hands as she scanned the field, targets in order of ease and magnitude flickered through her mind, a slight grin lit her lips.
Before Ylis can complete the casting to snap Sue out of existence, Otbium appears beside Sue and touches Sue on the shoulder. Flames begin to sprout on his shoulders, then down his arms. He screams out in agony and his body begins to glow and distort. The light becomes blinding, and Ylis can sense that her target is no longer willing. When the intensity of the light dims, the figure standing before you is a glowing avatar of a god.
His skin radiates light and he has one crimson hand and one hand that appears to be made of void. Raging power rises from both. He looks to you all. "No more games."
DM: Ylis can recover that 7th level spell slot since Obtium went first. Ylis, it is your turn.
She looks around desperately for some idea what to do. The adults are stunned or thinking about talking. Probably going to say something like 'use your words'
"Welll POOP on YOU!" the rabbit lady shouts!
She uses Teleport on the carrot to send it 200 feet directly above Ogliobum. Then she backs away 50 feet north and Surges with adrenalin to activate her staff into a cloud of butterflies.
OOC: The idea is to squash the guy with the carrot as falling is instant. If not, I will change my action. GM needs to roll d100 and hopefully get 26+

"............anybody got any potatoes? We could drop a potato in each hole an' see which ones get viciously mauled by horrible monsters?"
Otbium casually sidesteps the falling column of stone as it crashes into the dirt. He clicks his tongue a few times and waves a finger at Ylis.
Lair Action: He raises his hands and the caliginous fog pulses with distant lightning and for a brief moment, writhing bodies can be seen take shape in the thick mist. You could swear you hear countless voices cry out. The mist thickens into a bubble around Otbium and he smiles and gestures with an open hand to the party to come at him.
At the first sign of hostlities the tiny invisble blonde flies closer to the old man with the staff and with practiced ease she pours a potion into his mouth. She then flies off upwards some 30 feet. (Use Potion of invulnerability)
The old man with the staff sighs. He had preferred some trickery but the final battle had been unavoidable and if he had to go there was worse ways to that than fighting a mad god. With the staff in one hand he turns his free man towards Otbium and unleashes a barrage of emerald beams of eldritch crackling force to test his defenses.
He then steps closer, giving the mad god a taunting glare before disappearing up in the sky above him. Bonus action: Taunting Step, Wis save 21 or Disadvantage on attack rolls against creatures other than Jack until the start of his next turn. Jack then flies a bit further up to about 40 feet above Otbium.
Then the tricksy Shadowwhisk comes flying in from his position just to the south, stabbing his fey blade twice at the mad god. Fey Blade: 29 Force: 14 Fey Blade: 29 Force: 15 The dark fey then Fey steps up towards Jack and suddenly a cloud of darkness envelopes them both.
Finally the Air elemental enters the scene from the south and furiously slams into the mad god. Thunderous Slam: 14 Thunder: 16 Thunderous Slam: 10 Thunder: 18
(Jack has truesight and improved darkvision, flying, advantage on everythinga and enemies have disdvantage attacking him, deathward, bardic inspiration and invulnerability)
DM: I need a series of Wisdom Saving Throws, DC 20, for every melee or ranged attack made against Otbium. On failure, the attacker is unable to take subsequent attacks, actions, or bonus actions for the rest of their turn.
4 Wis Sav Throw from Jack, 2 from the Shadowwhisk, 0 from Air Elemental.
The first Eldrich Blast strikes at Otbium and he barely registers any kind of reaction. He turns away from Jack in that moment, dismissing what initially is seen as a pitiful degree of power. The second strikes him in the back and he fires a glance over his shoulder at Jack. A soul flies from the bubble surrounding Otbium and leaps into the elderly Jack. His mind begins to numb, but he is able to shake off the effects and continue his attacks. As the Force energy batters the newly minted body from behind, Otbium scans around with an intimidating glare.
The Shadowwhisk strikes at Otbium and a soul similarly flies into it, numbing its mind and forcing it to forget, for the moment, how to even attack.
As the Air Elemental leaps up at Otbium, he smirks and, without even looking at the creature, kicks and flips off of it before it can connect with him.
He lands and crosses his arms smugly.
DM: The Air Elemental misses both attacks and the Shadowwhisk is able to complete its first attack before succumbing to the effects of the bubble of souls.
Joy frowns thoughtfully as she watches Otbium's reaction, or frustrating lack of reaction, to Jack's impressive barrage of attacks. As the incarnated god lands, she moves within 15 ft of him, forgoing activating her weapon for now as she bolsters her Aura and attempts to stop him in place with the spectral vines from Nature's Wrath.
Bonus Action: Imbue Aura of Protection
As a Bonus Action, you can imbue your Aura of Protection with primal power, granting the benefits below for 1 minute or until you end them (no action required). Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a Long Rest. You can also restore your use of it by expending a level 5 spell slot (no action required).
Diminish Defiance. Enemies in the aura have Disadvantage on saving throws against your spells and Channel Divinity options.
Regeneration. At the start of each of your turns, you regain 10 Hit Points.
Swift Spells. Whenever you cast a spell that has a casting time of an action, you can cast it using a Bonus Action instead.
Action: Channel Divinity, Nature's Wrath
As a Magic action, you can expend one use of your Channel Divinity to conjure spectral vines around nearby creatures. Each creature of your choice that you can see within 15 feet of yourself must succeed on a Strength saving throw (DC 19) or have the Restrained condition for 1 minute. A Restrained creature repeats the save at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
Sue looks to Ylis and smiles gratefully.
"So you have chosen... death." Otbium says in a booming voice.
