Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage 2024

Ooc - If his Roper was defeated, Arden will get Zig'Thul to move between the second one and his friends (Jaeajo and Cleggor). He doesn't really have ranged options, but they will try to shield any hits.

Sniva and The alchemist

The alchemist hurls flame at the creature hitting with one blast.  Roper B injured.

Sniva out of range for the dragon breath sends a fire bolt at the creature and misses. Rolling in the dice log.

The remaining Roper B attacks.

It seems the most pressing target is Zig and Arden riding Zig.

First tentacle attack on Arden - Hit with a 22

Roper B reels Arden up 30ft to get a bite - hits 19 damage to Arden

Second tentacle attack on Zig disadv - Rolled 14 and 18 to hit Zig forgot to roll second one to everyone. I can send a pic if you want.

Roper B reels Zig up 30ft to get a bite. - Hits 22 at disadv doing 9 dmg and Zig goes poof. Sorry Zig

Roper A Dead

Roper B Bloodied,  Arden is Poisoned while Grappled and is grappled DC 14 escape Arden up 30ft high, Zig is gone.

Jaeajo changes the tune on his lute to a melancholy dirge, one appropriate to morn the loss of Zig and to cast Toll the Dead on the remaining roper (WIS save 15 or take 13 damage).

With the tune more somber, Roper B was unable to ward off the effects taking damage.  Roper B further Injured.

Cleggor backs up 5-10 feet to the south, then directs Ollie to flyby and hassle the Roper B again as he shoots another spell at the thing.  The spectral hawks fly around it, biting, nipping and scratching at the Roper, hoping to injure it.  

Movement : 5-10 feet to the south - southwest

Starry wisp at the Roper B : 21 to hit, for 8 points of radiant damage.  

Conjure animals to Roper B : DC 15 Dex save or take 8 points of slashing damage.

The Starry Wisp connects dealing some damage further injuring the Roper.  Roper Injured
The Roper avoids the conjured hawks amazingly.

Sniva misses with a 14 in the roller.

The alchemist rolled a 20 and a 2 and crit dmg 20 to the Roper.  Roper B Bloodied.

Arden is Up.

ooc - Alright, sorry. Assuming Arden is grappled with all his gear, he's gonna try to attack it.

Action: Multiattack.
Attack: 7 Damage: 5 (slashing) + 2 (slashing) = 7
Attack: 10 Damage: 10 (slashing) + 11 (slashing) = 21
Bonus: Divine Smite if it hits 9 

Roper B

The roper will send a tentacle strike at Sniva and if he hits reel them in for a bit.

If it misses sniva he bites twice on Arden.

Roper B crit hits Sniva with the tentacle. It reels him 30ft toward it but is still 20ft away for this round.  So, it bites twice on Arden.

The first attack misses Arden with an 11 and the second attack hits with a 24 to hit and 20 damage.  

Does Arden want to use shield to avoid damage?  

The roper takes Sniva and Arden and moves back away from the others having two prizes to munch on.

Next round. Round 4 Turn 1 Init 17 Party goes.

Well, that’s the wrong place for you to be, drawls Jaeajo about Arden being 30’ up. He unfurls his dragon wings and flies 30’ toward Arden. If he gets close enough, Jaeajo intends to grapple/wrestle Arden away from the Roper. If he is not close enough to Arden to do so, Jaeajo will use his fire breath against the Roper (15 damage or 7 damage with a Dex save 14)

Jaeajo moves 30ft forward putting them 30ft from the roper 30ft up. It is large so hangs low from the ceiling, but you have to use a 30ft line of fire which hits the creature, but it shrugged off some of the blast.  It saved.  Roper B bloodied

The alchemist move out from behind cover, hurls 2 motes of fire at the creature hitting it with one with a bit of damage.  Roper B bloodied.

Sniva grappled and poisoned sends some magic missiles at the creature but still below sends sounder to give adv for next attack roll on it.

He climbs the tentacle to get with 15ft of it and breathes on it to miss Arden.

The creature wriggles a bit and avoids some of the fire breath.  Roper B Bloodied.

Arden and Cleggin are up.

Cleggor has his owl Ollie return to him, roosting on his shoulder.  He hurls another mote of energy at the roper, and his spectral hawks continue to slash and claw at the roper, frantically trying to harm the beast.  

Starry wisp : 19 to hit, for 12 points of radiant damage.  

His spectral hawks attack for 20 points of slashing damage, DC 15 dex save to avoid.

Starry wisps just misses..

The spectral hawks ravage the roper killing it and the tentacles low to the ground depositing Arden and Sniva.  Shortly afterwards the roper releases from the ceiling dropping to the floor nearby.

Combat over.

Arden is bloodied, but other than losing Zig is functional.

Jaeajo lands and stows his wings and asks Arden with concern, My man, you need a pick-me-up? With a little rest and a little song, I can help you feel alright. 

Cleggor throws his hands up in the air with joy as his spectral hawks slice into the roper.  Like Jaejo, he walks over to assess Arden, saying “I can help heal ya as well, let me know if yer a needin it, that tentacled thing looks horrible!”  

ooc - Arden will cast cure wounds on himself but he won't object if someone else wants to heal him, lol. He will take a short rest only if the others need it, but he's pretty alright hp-wise. Ready to keep moving. 
Cure Wounds: 9

With a pained groan, Arden rose to his feet before dusting himself off. With a muttered prayer, the palm of his hand began to glow warm sunlight before placing it over the bite wounds. "Not tae worry, lads... Just need a bit tae catch me breath. Gonna take more than that to do me in." He gave a thumbs up, but it was easy to tell he was a bit sad to see Zig'Thul disappear.
