The two myconids stand still for a moment and Dirk gets the impression that there might be another conversation taking place, one where he's not included.
Dirk, please give me a Persuasion roll with advantage.
The two creatures seem to converse between each other telepathically for what feels like an hour. Finally, the voice returns to Dirk's mind, cold and transactional.
"Tarak is known to us. You are not. Prove your intention. Drop your weapons. Tell the others to drop their weapons too."
Onji looking a bit confused at first, (semi?) quickly understands and pulls the arrow from his bow and sheaths the arrow back into the quiver...he has not let go of the bow, he looks down at the ground and does some turning like he is looking for a place on this narrow ledge...he unhooks the bowstring reliving the tension and makes the bow unusable. He looks back at the party and the octopus and mushrooms and is still holding the bow, confident that this went beyond just setting the weapon down.
Marin puts his blades on the ground and then adds his bow and quiver.

"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
Seeing you all comply, the octopus uses its tentacles to gather up the weapons and drops them at one of the myconids' feet. The creature collects them and then gives an almost imperceptible nod for you all to gather. Once each of you enters the area where the spores flicker in the air, you suddenly get the strangest sensation that languages and words are no longer a barrier to understanding each other.
"Friends of Tarak... if you want to help, followwwww..." sounds through all your minds as the two plant creatures turn to lead you into the caves. Despite their lingering hostility, they move slowly, as if they have all the time in the world. Thus, even if you are being escorted, you still have a chance to have a proper look around.
The first area you see as you climb the stairs is a fifty-foot-high cavern that looks like a forest of multicolored fungi, ranging from tiny filaments to tree-sized mushrooms. A natural staircase of stone columns along the east wall leads up ten feet to a higher cave area in the north. Water burbles down from that upper cave and collects in a large pool. Two small mushroom-like people are working amid the mushrooms near the pond. A sickening smell, like sulfur, hangs in the air.
Irtos's keen senses pick up the smell of sulfur, but not having any training in nature, it doesn't mean anything to her. She does find all the fungi fascinating though...

Dirk drops his weapons motioning the others too.
There’s a slight smirk on Dirks face knowing he is talking with mushrooms, he has so many questions.

Irtos has no problem taking the mace from her belt and placing it on the ground. It isn't as if she ever uses it anyway...
