Lae, you notice that just behind the dog, the floor looks slightly different. It appears the floor there is several rotted boards under a thin layer of dirt.
The dog turns around and starts to step on the boards. As he steps, they begin to fall apart, but he manages to get off before falling into the 10 foot deep pit now in front of you. As you look inside, you see sharpened wooden spikes at the bottom of the pit and realize a fall into them probably would have killed any one of you.
(The pit takes up the entire 5' square, so, with the tunnel being only 5' across, there is no way to skirt around it here.)
Good boy! Well, we have to jump it or turn around. Chances are, this is the way to go since they trapped it. Is there anything to tie a rope to so we can swing?

Lae... Toss me. Or, at least give me a boost while I jump
Characters can assist each other while making skill checks, right? I think that offers advantage on the roll, but I can't remember the rule. Perhaps it would be best to
1) let the character with the best Athletics to jump across first and secure a rope somewhere to help everyone else cross, or
2) Have the same character assist everyone else first, then jump across.
(Throwing would be an athletics check for the thrower and possibly an athletics, acrobatics, or straight DEX check for the throwee on the other side.)
(Jumping from the phb. Long Jump. When you make a long jump, you cover a number of feet up to your Strength score if you move at least 10 feet on foot immediately before the jump. When you make a standing long jump, you can leap only half that distance. Either way, each foot you clear on the jump costs a foot of movement.)
I will assume you all jump across. When Necros jumps, he barely makes it across and leans back towards the pit a bit, windmilling his arms forward to attempt to regain his balance, which he manages to do. Embir is the last to jump across.
Ten feet ahead of you is a short staircase down to a small landing which continues to the right of the staircase. To your left is a short staircase leading up.
(Of course, due to the tightnes and short length of the tunnel and the number of people in the party, Lae will have to start in the chosen direction in order for the entire party to be able to jump across. E.g. Lae would have to be either down on the landing or up the other staircase. Not an issue, we will just assume it goes that way and that the party discussed it before jumping, I just need to know which direction he is headed lol.)

Did, the dog just detect a trap for us? Good boy! Zander takes a closer look. If needed: Investigation 3

"I might need the sword my magical stamina is not the best"
If he can Lae will also inspect the area behind the dog.
(Roll investigation Lae--the tunnel is only 5 feet wide, so you are having to travel single-file at the moment.)
Investigation:3
Looks safe from back here, big guy!

There are timber braces every 5' in the 7' high ceiling, though the top of each is flush to the ceiling.

What do you guys think?

Oh, so as long as we back up at least 10 ft, we can make the jump no problem, so long as we have a strength score of 5 or more?

(That's how I read it.)
“Well are we all jumping, or am I throwing? I’m pretty athletic!” Lae chortles.
"Unlike my brother I am against being thrown, I am not a dwarf."
Yes on second thought... I think we should all jump ourselves.

“Suit yourselves,” Lae says as backs up ten feet and then attempts a long jump over the pit trap.
Zander does the same when the path is clear.
