Out Of The Abyss

    Grugg looks at Leon carefully albeit with a rather stoic look, then puts Leon's gag back in his mouth.  In the meantime, a set of 4 Duergar Guards pick up a still unconscious Gremryl and begin carrying him inside.  Grugg motions another set of Duergar Guards towards Morgana's lifeless body who proceed to gather up the torso, and limbs, and from what Leon can assume, stabilize her condition for transport.

Grugg - "Up, Human.  Go."  he says in a gruff, "don't **** with me" manner.

    Leon feels the sharp poke of many spear tips in his back, prodding him to get up and move forward towards the city gates.

    Led by a pack of guards carrying Gremryl, then some carrying Morgana in pieces, and more still prodding Leon into the city gates, Grugg walks up to the Gate Guard to have a conversation about a night at the Two Boulders brothel.  He and the Gate Guard continue talking as the group is escorted into the city and is lead towards what you presume is a holding cell for further processing.

    After hours of tense navigation, you glimpse an orange glow in the distance.  Soon you hear faint metallic echoes, growing louder as you come closer.  Firelight illuminates massive columns with structures build around their bases.  The cold air of the Underdark is becoming warmer even at this distance, and you can now see a variety of piers made from zurkhwood, stone and plain rock jutting out along the edge of a huge cavern.

    As the group draws closer, Gremryl slowly begins to regain consciousness and realizes that he's gagged and bound, as Leon is, and carried by a number of Duergar Gaurds.  A wave of heat slams against you as an acrid smog rises to choke the air out of your lungs.  The Darklake spreads out beyond a jumble of buildings and streets, reflecting the lights of countless fires burning across the city within hollowed-out columns and stalagmites.  Though the streets are crowded, since you're being escorted by Duergar Guards, the crowds make way for you to move easily within the surging throng of buyers, merchants, and slaves.  You aren't the only outsiders here, as you spy Drow, Svirfneblin, Derro, Orcs and other races in the crowds.  The shouting of people blends in with the sound of distant hammering to create a constant, distracting din.

    Guards posted as you entered this district make it clear to the group that non-Duergar are restricted to the Darklake District.  The rhythmic hammering of the city's forges is drowned for a second by a thundering roar and the sound of crumbling rock.  Duergar and visitors alike turn to look as a two-headed, gray-skinned giant bursts through a gate, howling madly and lashing out left and right, littering the plaza with rock and stone debris.  As he bellows, one of his swings connects with one of the Duergar Guards escorting you, whose broken body flies through the air and crashes near Leon with a sickening, crunch.

Leon prays to Tymora for a blessing. “Lady luck I need your help now more than ever. I know these two are tilting luck a little out of my favor but I could really use the assistance.”

Leon does a perception check of his surroundings and the number of guards around him.

Gremryl slowly lifts his head at the commotion.  Being carried seems wierd to him...like floating. 

But more importantly...He's ALIVE!! by moradins will he is alive! 

He is gonna try to get his bearings and do a perception check as well 7

Morgana will remain unconscious.  I often wondered about the band name “The Greatful Dead”.  I now understand completely.

    Leon takes inventory of his surroundings.  There are 4 Duergar Guards carrying Gremryl, now placing him on the floor and preparing to subdue the two-faced giant.  There are more Duergar Guards in the Darklake District and it's difficult to count them all quickly although Leon safely assumes there's at least 8 total.  He's unsure if any additional guards may be invisible in the area.

    Elsewhere in the crowd, he notices Elmo and Hemeth!!!

Leon attempts to get their attention and make eye contact without pissing off any guards.

"By Istus's arse! Hem! Look over there! Its Grem, Leon, and ... it looks like the corpse of that terrible lass.  Watch me back, I'm going to see if I can aid Grem & Leon mate.  Ye see Stool any place?"

Elmo does a perception check: 21

The purpose of the check is to see if he can see a window to drag Grem to safety, maybe throw his cloak over him and sneak him and Leon away.  I want to know the guards are sufficiently distracted.  Elmo knows he cant help them if he is a slave too.  

If he does see a window then Elmo will stealth and move in that direction.

    Elmo doesn't see any easy way to remove Grem or Leon (or what's left of Morgana) to a safer position away from his captivity from the Duergar Guards.  It looks clear that they're all under careful watch...

    While Elmo scans the area, he notices Leon trying to catch his attention.

Hemeth - "That's a stone giant.  What in bloody hell is it doing here?  And rampaging out of control?!"  Running towards Leon, Hemeth stops short of the Duergar Guards, readies his weapon and yells to the guards, "Oy!  Let the Human fight.  He's quite capable at healing the wounded and I'll take personal responsibility for his actions from here on out!"

    With a nod towards Hemeth, two of the Duergar Guards begin to unbind and ungag Leon.  In the meantime, many of the remaining Duergar Guards are fending off the giant and attempting to subdue him before any casualties occur or property is broken.

Duergar Guard - "I'll still skewer ya if yer actin' out o' line, Human."  he says gruffly.

    Leon is now able to move freely.  Both Leon and Elmo - Roll initiative!

Gremryl hearing that familiar gruff voice.. He recognizes it.. is that Hemmeth.. He hasn't heard a sweeter voice despite how they parted last time..  He could maybe help him.. 

He looks up and attempts to see if he can see Hemmeth, and look towards his voice...

Elmo works his way over to Morgana (I assume she is strapped to a guards back as he fights the giant).  I want to do an investigation check to see if I see any signs of breath and to loot her belongings.  Elmo believes that she is dead.

    Gremryl looks towards the familiar voice and sees none other than his dear friend, Hemeth!  It's really him!  Has he come to rescue us?  Making any movement that he can to draw Hemeth's attention, Gremryl thinks he sees Hemeth look directly at him...but is unsure if the scowl on his face is because of seeing Gremryl, or being in combat with the stone giant...

    Meanwhile, Elmo stealthily sneaks around the group and edges closer to Morgana.  Thinking he's being completely incognito, Leon and Gremryl's passive perception both catch Elmo rifling through Morgana's remains, looking through it for valuables.

Elmo - You may PM me for your intentions into Morgana's belongings.  With a Nat20 you can see everything that she owns and you can tell that she's stable somehow, even though her body itself is in pieces.  She must have an incredibly strong will to survive, you think to yourself.  Now that you're close enough to the fighting, Roll for initiative!

Leon casts bane on The giant.  I then cast healing word on Grem 9

    The stone giant shares his head and appears to be affected by Leon’s spell. Gremryl heals for 9 points and feels much better and alert.

    Before your eyes, Hemeth enlarges to the same size of the stone giant!

Hemeth - “Elmo!  What’s the matter with you, lad?!  Now’s not the time for that!  Help subdue this giant but don’t kill him!”  He yells towards Elmo. 

    Hemeth then charges towards the stone giant, entering into a grappling contest with the raging creature. They’re evenly matched!

Elmo takes action next!

Initative: 16

Elmo looks at the mutated body of morg. “Ye were a right terror. But ye didn’t deserve this.” Elmo thinks to himself.  Upon discovering that she is alive, Elmo finds himself pitying the girl.  Seeing her butchered body and Knowing what lies in store for captives of the gray dwarves, Elmo decides to do the girl a kindness. (Elmo draws his short sword)

then uses his bonus action to stealth and get in position to shoot the giant.    Preferably in a spot close to Leon  And Grem.

Having been healed for 9 points gremryl while seeing Elmo skulking about, wants to get Hemmeths attention. (Like that high schooler wanting to be cool). He perceives Elmo skulking,  but getting hemmeth attention is more important.
