Estellen’s eyes go wide as the people’s souls begin to be consumed, he turns hurriedly to Doc and makes a token effort to pull the Tortle before breaking out into a full sprint away from the camp.
Violet, seeing hell break loose, hurries towards the tent, the smile on her face dead, replaced by seriousness. Breaking into the tent, she'll quickly try to find anything of worth/note/importance and grab it before bolting the heck out of there.
Doc gets knocked onto his shell and feels the darkness creep into his eyes, but after taking a moment to blink a few times and rub them, he find himself still able to see. He feels Estellen pull at his back, allowing him to quickly get back on his feet. The Tortle begins to break into a sprint away from the camp along with the others, thinking to himself, "My god...my god...why have you forsaken me?"
He angrily throws his holy symbol to the ground -- his shield -- as he attempts to make his way out of the camp.
Violet quickly darts into the tent, grabbing anything she can, then begins running for the wall. Able to see no sign of Quilqwen, Tailine follows Violet out.
All:
There's the same short rush of anti-sound as before, but this it just ends with the sound of a strong wind and a growing sphere of darkness. It continues to grow until the entire camp is engulfed, at which point it stops growing.
Quilqwen:
There are still several cages left to open as the darkness approaches, but there just isn't enough time to save them all. You're forced to run, just making it out yourself with barely a second to spare. Those prisoners that you freed and were caught in the darkness never reappear. You direct them back up the hill to your lookout point.
All:
You all regroup at the lookout point, noticing that Quilqwen has about 100 extra people with him. All are in rags, bruised and battered with terror in their eyes.
Rejoining the rest Quilqwen looks around taking in just how few made it out. For a moment it looks as though he is about to run back toward the camp. Then collapses to the ground. “Gone. All gone. So many. I tried.....I couldn’t......I shouldn’t have gone in alone.” Turning back to the rest. ”What is that thing?“ Even being unfamiliar with the mannerisms of his people Quilqwen looks like someone on the edge of desperation.
Tailine will pace back and forth once they reach the meeting place, looking back toward the camp to see if that terrible thing is following. She'll look relieved at the sight of Quilqwen approaching; a bit shocked that he managed to bring so many of the villagers with him. As soon as she spots him she'll hurry forward.
"Good, you made it." She'll see the terror on the villagers faces and try not to let her own fear show in front of them. "Let's get these people and ourselves as far away from here as we can."

Violet, with a full bag gives a confused look and sighs, "And where would we be going? Where we came from ain't exactly safe, heck, it couldn't even house everyone here." Crossing her arms, Violet can't help but bite back a curse. She wanted to help those people, but they weren't exactly in the best position to do so. Putting aside the weird ritual that just happened, a part of it seemingly causing her to itch from within, she knew full well that it would be stupid to try to protect 100 people, most of whom looked like paranoid and beaten dogs, and get them to "safety".
Massaging the bridge of her nose, she asks, "Let's also not forget what just happened. Anyone got a proper, sensible explanation for that BS!?"
Estellen puts a hand on Quilqwen's shoulder, "Shhh. It's fine to make mistakes, and you have saved some, at least. The ones lost are lost, but for the living there is hope."
Standing up straighter, he addresses the group, "We should return to the village now and rest. However, we will need to find some way of fording that river, unless there is a bridge somewhere."
Musing, he looks over the crowd for anyone that looks like they would have knowledge of the local area (anyone who looks like a hunter, merchant, or something similar). Perception: 23
Estellen does not appear too perturbed by the recent events and his earlier panic seems to have dissipated. He leans on his staff, briefly catching his breath, as he calculates what to do next.
Doc is down on the ground, contemplatively sitting.
"Whatever that was, my divine magic had little-to-no effect. If that thing wasn't a god...it may be more powerful than the gods themselves. As Estellen said, we must take pride in knowing some were saved, but we must quickly come up with a plan to get ourselves far away from this place."
Quilqwen nods slowly at the others words. He stands up and looks around the people gathered not truly seeing them. Then begins walking back to the town retracing the path they followed just that morning.
Looking back at the dark sphere, it does not appear to be growing anymore and nothing has been seen leaving it. However anyone that looks at it gets a feeling of unease, like something within is watching them, staring through them into their very soul.
Estellen: Given their condition none look like anything such as hunters, however you do see two red-haired gnomes holding tight to each other.
Violet: Looking at the items you stuffed into your bag before running you find, a heavy book locked shut with clasps, a few scrolls written in a language you can't understand, a map of an unknown place, and a large rough-cut onyx gem that seems to pulse like a heart. (Arcana(INT) check please Violet)

Violet, looks over the items, but considering their location, thinks it best to look them over when they have more privacy, and are farther away from the giant black ball of death.
A bruised and battered half-orc steps forward, "I might, they used boats to travel across the river, and I think I might know where they left them." As she's saying this, she's walking forward but her leg gives way she finishes, causing her to collapse to the ground. Through barred teeth, "although I may need a little help getting there..."
Violet sighs, quiet literally rolling her eyes, before going over and offering the half orc woman a hand. Picking her up and helping her walk, "Lead the way good looking" Glancing back at the mob, she calls out, "Oy! If anyone else be needing help to move, help them or I'll kick your ass into your mouth!" With that, she starts walking, having the half orc woman direct her.
Quilqwen turns back as Jatrin calls out and the half orc replies. He turns back and joins the others with the crowd of captives. "Sorry, I...was not myself there for a moment. I will follow behind and watch our backs. Lets get these folks back to Deford."

”Run, RUN! We cannot fight this!”
Panavor confused what going, seeing the tendrils taking people souls he backs of as Quilqwen shouted.

Violet you have seen most of what's happened (dark tendrils, souls being dragged above you, screaming) and heard all of it.
Jartrin you are with Estellen and Doc
Quilqwen is currently alone
Violet and Tailine are together
