"I hesitate to risk missing the Thessalhydra while it's on this plane, and winding up having to follow it back to that upside down place. I understand that Whistler wants to heal; there are more expedient ways of doing that. What about the rest of you? Do you really need a night's rest before feeling comfortable tracking that thing down?"
OoC: All we've done since the last long rest was have one not terribly difficult fight, and we got a short rest since then. Out of character, taking a long rest now feels a little cheap, personally (and I say this as a caster who actually has resources he can't get back on a short rest). But if I'm outvoted on that, it's fine.
OOC: It was a suggestion to the group. If people want to move on, Whistler will take the potion and keep moving but otherwise he will set camp. I initially suggested the rest as i don't think anyone has darkvision but i now realise that is moot as we would be entering a cave.

The group finds a place just into the trees and out of view of the cave entrance and sets up a quiet cold camp.

The night passes slowly as you trade off shifts for keeping watch but the dawn finally comes. Nothing has come or gone from the cavern and you awaken well rested and glad you are no longer in the upside down.
Long rest!
The entrance of the cavern looms before you. Some of the cross-planar flowers grow along the rocks here. As you move deeper into the cave you find the cave is thick with webs from floor to ceiling. Three giant spiders lie in the southwest corner in the webbing watching you. To the north there’s a 20-foot-wide pit.
As you enter the cave, Whistler moves to the flowers and is able to harvest one flower from the patch that grows on this side. A close examination reveals it to be Blackleaf Rose and very rare.
As you make your way through the passageways you see the ceiling to average about 15 feet in height through areas 1 and 2 with it raising to about 20 feet over the pit and area 3.
Gil would move to the webbed floor and tap it with his staff, checking to see if it sticks and is safe to walk on. "Hey guys... should we do something about those spiders? I am worried that if we walk across these webs that we might get stuck... " The verdan would say with concern in his voice. "I could try to burn the webs with my torch or a spell if you all wanted.. It might upset the spiders though." Gil would look around for any threats or anything shiny amung the webbing. With a small nod, he would send his spectral bat soaring around the room and across the pit, sending him down into the pit to look for dangers and items before scouting out the other side. Gil would ask the bat to help look for items and threats.
You find the floor is passable as the webbing covers the walls from floor to ceiling. You have to occasionally duck to pass a low hanging web but they do not impede your movement. The web's go partially down the hallway to the pit but end about 10 feet before the pit.
As Darvin tries to intimidate the spiders one hisses loudly that clearly means stay away.
Gilbert's bat flies into the pit and finds it to be about 30 feet deep. A number of bones from animals lay at the bottom. It flies over the pit and does not see anything else.
Darvin gives his shield two precise taps with a finger, causing it to begin glowing. He points it alternately at the left wall then the right, scanning the webs, in case he can see anything behind them (Perception: 15).
Gil would take his torch and hold it to the webbing on the walls, attempting to ignite them and scare off the spiders. "I hear these things are pretty flammable.. once the webs are gone it should be easier to get through this cave!"

As Darvin looks around and Tibi determines the height of the ceiling over the pit to be about 20 feet, something he could easily fly over, Gil is bothering the spiders by trying to light their webs on fire.
"Gil leave the critters alone, we've got more important things to do, now come on!"Tibi yells out in frustration as he launches himself over the pit. Once he gets to the otherside he has a quick look down the corridor before turning back to make sure the others are OK and disengaging from the combat with the spiders.

"Ok then Gentlemen, I'll take first watch" Tibi says as he flies up to a height of 50' but in such a way that he is not outlined by the setting sun.

Is whistler able to harvest some of these flowers?

OoC: Good tip, thanks!
Darvin slowly approaches the spiders, and attempts to puff himself up and stare them down.

OoC: Is the webbing blocking the path completely, or is there a way around it?

Is there enough height for Tibi to launch himself into the air and fly across the pit?
