The Exploits of Misfit Company

Stella will claim the Armor of Gales.

"Uh.. yea.. yeah, yeah. I... hm... no, it's best for you lot to make use of these, though tempted I am by that mantle and staff. Perhaps with some jury rigging..." Courage trails off muttering something or other to himself, before abruptly shaking his head. "Sorry. Lost myself there for a moment. To be honest, some of the coin should be enough for me."

"You can take the staff if you want, Courage. I already have one on order."

Courage "Hmms" and "Hawws", but eventually nods and scoops up the staff of frost.

Alys would gently adjust her cloak as she'd stand there hugging the Grimoire to her chest, assuming that was her designated item. Her eyes would scan around watching the others claim their new finds. The elf would naturally gravitate towards Yvan as they were all preparing for Vastra to teleport them back. "You're carrying one hot sword, Yvan." Alys would smile sweetly at him, before her blue hues would eyes would glance over at Cinderfall and back. A slight smirk would tug at her lips for a brief moment. Truthfully though, was there a little extra light that shone from him today?

"All right, let's go then." Vastra casts Teleport, aiming for the palace in Mahajarin.

And succeeds. In an instant, you are taken from the tomb of Ollander and deposited a short distance outside of the palace of King Kumajin, where Ohmajin is waiting with a small contingent of guards. "Ah, greetings Misfit Company. The palace is guarded by a ward that prevents direct teleportation inside of it. A necessary precaution. Did you retrieve the Sunstone?" 

"A most understandable precaution. You'll have to forgive us for not having taken it into consideration, and adjusted accordingly." Courage chuckles sheepishly, and with his head slightly lowered in respect. "Unfortunately, the item requested was not where it was supposed to be. Seems some sort of Green Dragon acquired it sometime in the past. But, we have it on good authority-..." A look goes to Alys alongside a grin. "-on where it last went. But, we would request access to any libraries or maps of the lands and continent for research into the location, if that's alright?"

Kasha lays on the floor face up and begins eating chocolate covered peanuts, a treat she had not enjoyed for some time. She makes no attempt whatsoever to eat quietly or politely. At times, she throw's one up into the air and tried catching it with her mouth. She does this a number of times, and the ones she misses, she doesn't bother to retrieve.

Alys would return a smile to Courage before nodding to their employer, "Yes. We would like to access your best sources of knowledge for the next leg of our task." Her hands would be held behind her back presenting herself respectfully. Though, she'd actually be making some gentle hand gestures to cast some magic.

Eventually, Kasha would notice that every chocolate covered peanut she was throwing, wasn't coming down to her. When she'd make a noise of confusion, and Aly suspected the druid was about to look for them, that's when she'd release her magic, allowing the collected peanuts to rain down on the belly up half elf.

"You say that the Sunstone was taken by a dragon. Was it green, with no wings and a body like that of a serpent?"

“Yes. That’s correct.” 

"Uuh?" Kasha squeaked in confusion, just like Alys would predict. She cocked her head towards everyone, and let out a sharp bark of surprise as her food rained down on her. She rolled on her stomach, and began to suck up each and every one like Kirby. WHP WHP WHP WHP. Until her cheeks were big.

"That was Ikiron. He must have claimed the Sunstone now that Ollander is dead. We had hoped that he would take longer to claim it. If he has it, he can be found at Lake Myari and you will have to complete his tests in order to claim the Sunstone."

Ohmajin gives you the directions to Lake Myari and allows you all to rest in the city to regain your hit points and spells before you go out to the lake to go face this dragons' tests.

"If you were prepared for this to be a possibility, would you also have any knowledge or preparation suggestions for these 'tests'?" Alys expected they would most likely have to figure that out once they got there, but it never hurt to ask. She'd take down the directions to the lake.

Courage bows in thanks, and though tempted to inquire into the nature of these tests, unlikely as it was to be known in any exacting details, he instead asks about potion makers the group might be able to visit to potentially help in their endeavor. With them of course paying for the service.

Once all that's settled, come the next day an early rising Courage preps a simple, and yet somehow still extravagant breakfast banquet of waffles, freshly backed baguettes, jam, strawberries, bacon, boiled eggs with a smattering of black pepper on them, maple syrup, and a few donuts of varying flavors to tie the meal together.  

Day's Prep:
---> Cast (4th level) Aid on Courage, Vastra, and Alys, granting 15 additional HP.
---> Special Treats given to Alys, Stella, Vastra, Yvan, and Kasha. (As a bonus action, the treats can be consumed to gain 5 Temp HP that last until depleted)
--->Yklwa made into Spell Storing Item (Contains 8 charges of [2nd level]Cure Wounds)
--->Expend 1 use of Defensive Field to gain 12 Temp HP (lasts until depleted)

Alys: Ohmajin tells you that the test will see how strong you all are as fighters, so you better rest up if you wish to claim the Sunstone.

The next morning you all wake up and make the journey to Lake Myari. It takes four days to get to the lake and it's fortunate that Ohmajin gave you a map to the lake, as it is hidden deep in the midst of a forest and would prove quite difficult to find on your own. When you arrive at the lake, you see a dragon popping its' head out of the water, before gently submerging itself. Moments later, the dragon dramatically bursts out of the water, its' serpentine body flying around in loops and circles.

GREETINGS MORTALS. I AM IKIRON. DO YOU COME HERE TO CLAIM THE SUNSTONE?

Every day Courage makes the same prep as before, if albeit with less fantastical breakfast spread. Money may be what the group was made out of now, but one could only acquire so many supplies even with a bags of nigh endless space. Throughout the journey, the tiefling is a little more withdrawn than usual, and can occasionally be over heard murmuring to Souperb things like "I can feel it again. Right in me jellies.." or "those 'ol foggies don't know how to leave well enough alone."

But unless engaged with, nothing more really comes of it, and upon the fourth day the tiefling seemed more resolved and straight backed otherwise seen so far. Though that stance is soon tested when dragon makes its appearance. Despite himself, Courage actually falters a step in surprise at the very least, but a few pats of the chest steadies the nerves. Yet the sting of the reaction left him feeling less qualified to speak, so he looks expectantly to Yvan.

When it was revealed that Xagibar had given the sunstone to a dragon, Yvan had only sighed. The goliath had grown a slight dislike for the creatures with the amount of times they had encountered them. The fights were always close, and the last time they fought one, he had gone unconscious for the first time in a while. But a job was job and they needed to see it through to the end. 

While they waited for teleportation, the barbarian had been inspecting his new sword further, wanting to familiarize himself with it prior to using it in a battle. As he ran his finger tips up the flat side of its blade, Alys had approached him, catching his attention with her jests. He gives her a snort in response, eyeing her with smiles in his eyes and face. He did look a bit brighter now that he was looking at her... "I guess so, but I'm looking at something even hotter though." It takes a second for his brain to register what he had just said and when it does, he adverts his gaze and covers his reddening face with his free hand and mutters, "ThatwasbadI'msorry."

Yvan manages to calm himself down by the time they had teleported back to the palace to notify Ohmajin of their findings. Hearing him say that the dragon will have them complete a series of tests puts him at further, even if they were to test their strength as fighters, at least they weren't fighting Ikiron directly... hopefully...

During the journey to the lake, Yvan had been mentally preparing himself. It was not knowing what the tests were going to consist of that made him wary. There were many ways to prove you were a capable fighter other than just fighting, he would know that fact well. He tries to keep himself optimistic, telling himself they would be fine and succeed, but there was always that small little voice of doubt there as well. Only when they got there would that optimism really be tested.

When green hues gazed upon the dragon in the water, they followed the creature even when it flew in the air, making a show of itself before them. He keeps his back straightened and feet planted on the ground, lips thinned when it spoke to them. The goliath attempts to ignore the feeling of eyes on him and responds. "Yes, we are. We are Misfit Company and we're here to take on your challenges for the stone."
