((Oh, and by the way, I was thinking more just round tokens with perhaps the initial of the character, not a full blown artists impression of the character. Didn't want to increase your workload that much Chris. ;) What's everyone's thoughts on the tactical map? I like the lack of coordinates. That makes it too regimented. But I do like being able to see where we roughly stand. Is it a lot of work Chris? ))
(It's very easy. The hard part was preparing bodies for Dwal and Missy! Feel free to provide your own token, too. But I'm also curious how this map works for you all. Is it useful? Does it dumb it down at all? Because it's easy enough for me. I'd like to keep a little "not to scale" caveat, however. Life isn't always in nice square grids... and sometimes DMs like to fudge things.)
(The dice gods do not seem to be favoring us today! I like the maps -- it makes a difference when maneuvering, like knowing who's got Attacks of Opportunity and who's engaged with what.)
The skeleton's weapon is easily turned by Qivys' armor, but Butter takes a painful wound to his shoulder. The glowing skeletal arm slowly pushes the doorway to the east wide open.
Dwal swings his war hammer at Skeleton #5 next to Qivys. The jar of the impact knocks off a fair amount of the resin off its bones, but it only suffers minor damage.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Missy's hurls a mote of arcane fire at the skeleton in the corner. It barely misses the monster's skull; the flare briefly lights up the dirty chamber.
Butter takes advantage of Missy's distraction to slam the creature with his longsword. Attack: 17. Damage: 5
Butter's wild swing misses completely, catching nothing but air with his sword.
Qivys may go next, then Peri. (Great to have you back, Missy!)
The blue glow emanating from the new door to the east begins to fade. The skeletal hand retracts into the gloom. You hear a dry, disembodied voice from the doorway speak, “Secrets found and lost then found again...."
The two remaining animated skeletons chatter their lifeless jaws in response.
He is thoroughly enjoying standing side by side with another dwarf. "Dwal, catch!"He swings mightly at the skeletons head, looking to send it towards his kin in a kind of game.
"Bloodydwarves..." he mutters, watching their game play out. (No way he's getting in the middle of this!) He watches to see if the head connects with the last skeleton, the steps back (west) 10' to clear the doorway if anyone - not the fool dwarves, obviously - wants to exit the room.

Peri steps away as the remaining skeleton swings its rusty blade at Butter. Short Sword attack: 5 Piercing damage: 6
Meanwhile, Dwal magically flings a skull at the final attacker, who attempts to dodge it: 21
Butter fails to dodge the skeleton's rusty blade, and it pierces him clear through. Butter is down. The skeleton, however, manages to deftly dodge its comrade's flying skull, which bounces off the wall behind it with a sharp crack.
A hunched corpse drifts in through the door to the east. It is wearing a pointed hat and dressed in a robe embroidered with mystic symbols. Thin wisps of beard float from its bony jaw. It raises a finger, tracing arcane symbols in the air. In a hoarse voice, it continues to speak: “...Your paltry minds cannot fathom …”
Dwal brushes by Qivys and Missy and erupts in flame. He stops next to Qivys, and braces himself for the next round of battle.
Missy and Qivys may act next.

Qivys
Dwal joining him on the front line in the battle against #5 gives Qiv a renewed sense of urgency. He throws his weight behind his attack.
Attack: 7 Damage: 8
((Lightweight dwarf ;) ))
(The dice gods do not seem to be favoring us today! I like the maps -- it makes a difference when maneuvering, like knowing who's got Attacks of Opportunity and who's engaged with what.)
With a roar of anger, Butter swings his longsword once again at skeleton #1 in the corner. Attack: 13 Damage: 3
He shatters a few more bones, but the skeleton continues to advance.
Missy is up next, then Peri.
Skeletons #1 and #3 are quite damaged, while #5 has only taken minor damage.
A glowing skeletal hand appears in the hidden doorway in the northeast, slowly pulling the sliding door open.
Missy is up, then Peri.
Peri may act if he wants; Missy can jump in when she's ready.
Peri:
Peri fires off two quick punches at Skeleton #3. Unarmed Strike #1 17 Damage 6; Unarmed Strike #2 10 Damage 7
He then "stages a tactical withdrawal" through Dwal and Missy's spaces and nopes out the door.
Peri smashes his arm clear through Skeleton #3. It collapses to the ground, inert. He darts for the doorway, successfully.
The remaining two skeletons attack Qivys and Butter.
Skeleton #5 thrusts his sword at Qivys. Shortsword attack: 9 Piercing Damage: 4
Skeleton #5 swings wildly at Butter. Shortsword attack: 20 Piercing Damage: 5
The skeleton's weapon is easily turned by Qivys' armor, but Butter takes a painful wound to his shoulder.
The glowing skeletal arm slowly pushes the doorway to the east wide open.
Dwal may go, and Missy can jump in anytime.
Dwal
Dwal will take a swing at the closest Skeleton and yell: "Daft Halfling, get behind the shield wall!"
Hit: 12
Damage: 2
Peri:
"Aye aye, Cap'n! I'll get behind whatever wall's available -- more glory to the dwarves!"
Dwal swings his war hammer at Skeleton #5 next to Qivys. The jar of the impact knocks off a fair amount of the resin off its bones, but it only suffers minor damage.
Missy and Qivys may act now.
Missy
Missy casts fire bolt on Skeleton #1
To hit: 16

Qivys and Peri may both act.
Qivys
He is thoroughly enjoying standing side by side with another dwarf. "Dwal, catch!" He swings mightly at the skeletons head, looking to send it towards his kin in a kind of game.
Attack: 18 Damage: 10
Dwal
Dwal yells "Aye".
If the head does come off Dwal will use it and cast Catapult throwing it into Skeleton #1 (if he can).
The skeleton would need to make a Dex save: 12 or take
Damage: 7
With a mighty swing, Qivys slams the skull clear off its skeletal body, which collapses into a pile of dirty bones.
The lifeless skull flies through the air to Dwal, who prepares to catapult it toward the last standing skeleton.
But first, Peri acts...
Peri:
"Bloody dwarves..." he mutters, watching their game play out. (No way he's getting in the middle of this!) He watches to see if the head connects with the last skeleton, the steps back (west) 10' to clear the doorway if anyone - not the fool dwarves, obviously - wants to exit the room.
