Going through the weapons, they all move easily in my hands. Though comfortable, all of the one handed weapons feel like toys in my hands. Hefting a greataxe, feeling the weight in my hand, I know this is right. I also grab a javelin, taking a practice throw at the ship away from Talon. I go through the metal armor, attempting to find a shirt that may fit over my frame.
"While I hope we won't need these, I feel that they may come in handy."

You swap out for a large chain shirt, and it seems to fit you just fine. The one handed weapons do feel a bit easy to swing, but swinging things two handed feels a bit odd... almost as if your muscle memory wants to be doing something else with your off hand.

Ember will sit back in frustration with the barrel. She will look at Big'un..."Hey big guy! I just can't seem to get this barrel open. Do you think you might be able to give me a hand?"
((Just as a note, rolls for certain intraparty checks (most often Persuasion or Intimidation), I view them as adding to the flavor, but not something that the 'target' would be beholden to. Just because it can lead to players forcing others to do things they wouldn't otherwise want to do. This doesn't really fall into that, but I wanted to head it off now. A more egregious example would be someone with a +7 Persuasion trying to roll that to convince someone else to run down the obviously trapped corridor... I mean, if you're on board with it, go for it, but I'm not going to let a Persuasion check force your hand. So, Templar, you can view that 18 as Ember asking nicely.))

After taking a few practice swings with the greataxe, something doesn't feel quite right. I place it back with the rest of the equipment and fish our a shield. I strap it onto my left arm and move it around, determining how comfortable I feel.

Nodding satisfactorily, I go back to the weapon pile and pick up a slightly smaller axe (battle-axe), then practice a few maneuvers, letting muscle memory lead my movements.

It feels pretty good, the slight pain of your bruised fingers forgotten as you whirl through some pantomime attacks, the effort stretching and unlimbering muscles stiff from the wreck and wash ashore. You can't recall whether you always had a preference for axes, but if feels good enough in your hand.
Ember and Blue are the first to hear a chittering clacking, followed by a bit of splashing from the water, and look over to see some rather large crabs scuttling out to pick and nibble at some of the corpses nearby.
I feel happy that some of these weapons don't feel too alien to me, and I keep a dagger and that slender rapier with the ornate guard looks nice. Oh, and a small crossbow to fire from the air.
I chirp happily as I tilt my head from one weapon to another and strap them to my leathers.
((Dagger, rapier, hand crossbow?))
Seeing Mark with the shield, I try one, too, but I definitely shake my head at the thought of wearing any of that heavy armour.
Ember tries again, having a little more leverage this time. (I'm sure this is quite a comical display) "Nope. Maybe you should try with a big rock. Maybe just don't hit it too hard this time."
Exhausted, Ember sits back on the sand and starts to stare at the clouds. Maybe she'll leave the strength work to her larger companions. Finesse seems more her style.
The large fellow picks up the barrel, Ember letting go of her dagger before it yanks her off her feet, and gives it a bit of a shake. He can hear something rattling around inside. It doesn't sound fragile, if you had to guess, it's full of ship's biscuits.
(If there's a chain shirt, I'll take that too)

Feels more proper, providing a counterbalance to your swings. Just gotta find a weapon you like for the other hand.

Big'Un smiles at Ember and say's: "Sure no problem."
He then walks over and uses the Help action so she can roll with advantage.
Big 'Un holds the barrel for Ember, looking down at the little gnome expectantly, waiting for her to break into the barrel that is twice her size.

Big'Un will investigate the barrel 10 to see if he can tell what is in it....i.e. does it slosh (liquid) or is it solid?
