Continuing on to the next room, upon entering a rancid smell fills the room. Around the room are five barrels containing a thick fluid. However, near the middle of the room, a large hole dug deep into the frozen ground.

Qinfaren holds one big hand over his nose and mouth and goes further into the room, looking down into the hole and then looking more closely at the barrels to try and identify what's inside (Investigation?: 18 )
Qinfaren sees that on the walls of the hole is a strange, frosted white residue. After that, Qinfaren checks out the barrels, and they appear to contain some sort of oil. Presumably, the oil is made from the whales that the frost giant brought to this lodge.

Bàn is just assuming this is a fishing hole and it smells of fish and rotting stuff and is generally disagreeable to his senses. He has been eager to move on to other parts of this structure to look for the supposed hostages but is waiting on Qinfaren rather than have everyone off by themselves. As it is, from what Ricky yelled a moment or three ago, he believes that they have gone exploring on their own and Bàn believes they shouldn't further split up.
Qinfaren looks from himself to Bjorn, judging the size of the hole, then looks around for Ricky. The diminutive brawler might be just the right size to check out the hole.
"Hello down there," Qinfaren calls into the hole. Then he looks back at everyone, "If there are prisoners, maybe they were stuck down the hole."
"It seems too small for the giant or mammoth to have used. And wolves don't seem like tunnel builders." Qinfaren says. "Maybe someone else was using this."
Along the tunnel, Ricky discovers more of the strange, frosted white residue smeared along the walls of the tunnel. It seems that whatever created the tunnel left this residue behind. However, the tunnel continues for a long time without an end in sight.

Ricky continues on through the tunnel. Down here it is a little difficult to determine just how far he is walking. Eventually, the tunnel begins to slope down. However, Ricky can hear the a strange sound coming from the further along the tunnel.
Bjorn turns to Bàn and Qinfaren, "I am not sure splitting up like this is a good idea."

"Ugh, this is unpleasant," Bàn points out needlessly. "Assuming just a fishing hole... I have no particular desire to do a search here."

(Anyone one want to check out the oil or just move on?)

((Sorry missed this one))
"One second and we'll go," Qinfaren says.
He lowers his large frame down to the ground and takes a look in the hole, doing his best not to touch the white residue
The hole is deep but there doesn't seem to be any body of water at the bottom. It is unlikely that this hole was used for fishing.

Ricky rolls his shoulders and crawls in the hole, head first if it's like a crawl

Qinfaren calls down the hole. However, the only reply he receives is the echo of his own voice bouncing off the walls of the hole.
Ricky begins to climb down, but quickly realises that the hole turns into a tunnel.

Ricky calls back. "It's a tunnel! Seems odd to have a tunnel here... I'll keep going."

“You have enter the Giant’s back hole and are now climbing through a stinky tunnel,” Bàn asks incredulously. “Do you really think that is wise?”
Qinfaren smiles.
"It seems too small for the giant or mammoth to have used. And wolves don't seem like tunnel builders." Qinfaren says. "Maybe someone else was using this."
Bjorns nods mostly for himself than the others, "Not sure it's the best idea, either."
He then turns to Qinfaren, "Well, it seems to be about twenty feet across. It's not exactly a small hole."

(Ricky, are you continuing in the tunnel?)

Yeah, Ricky is tunnel man now. Onward!

Ricky will... Keep going I guess. We're here. There's not anything but angry animals behind us.
