Chilling Adventures in the North

     “Eventually the spell ends.  I stop focusing on it, I get distracted, someone pokes the mammoth…  And pissed off mammoths magically forced to be calm tend to flip right back to kissed off when the spell ends,” Bàn explains.  “I prefer they be elsewhere when that happens…”

     “But if you want me to drop the spell I’m sure it’ll come back…”

Qinfaren watches the mammoth go and looks around quickly.

”Might not have much time before the wolves come and see what’s going on.”

If there is no sign of prisoners in this chamber, Qinfaren does a quick look around for anything else of interest, especially by the dead giant’s corpse.

Perception: 9  

     Bàn looks tge way Qinfaren is watching.  "Him bringing the wolves was part of it...  Not sure just what will happen if the wolves have a different idea and resist."  Bàn shrugs.  "We should look for those hostages post haste."

Ricky nods. "I'll guard our backs. Search quickly." 

Taking a quick look around this chamber, Qinfaren doesn't find anything useful. However, he does notice an interesting-looking symbol carved into the throne.

Qinfaren moves over to the throne and checks out the symbol.

Int Check? 19  

     Bàn will examine the dead giant.  Does it look like he was bitten to death by the wolves or is it more slashing type damage or…?  Does it have any belongings on him?

Qinfaren examines the symbol and identifies it as the Giant rune for "ice".

Bàn sees that body of the frost giant is hacked up by slashing wounds. It looks like the type of injuries caused by weapons. The giant has nothing on his body, and if he was carrying a weapon it's missing.

     “Could be whoever killed them is still heat, keep your eyes open,” Bàn says and while doing so pops Owl out of the inter dimensional pocket and sets them free to fly about and be an extra set of watchful eyes.

Qinfaren heads towards which ever exit is opposite to the one they entered the chamber by.

     Bàn follows Qinfaren, I'm assuming west behind the throne?  

(Yes, curling around to L7, trying not to metagame and look too closely at what looks like a large cage in L3)

Qinfaren leads the group past the throne into the area behind it. Here the area curves to the south where the only furniture in this cavernous chamber is a big fur bedroll. The fur is matted and musty.

Qinfaren pokes at the bedroll with his staff and pushes it aside, searching for anything of interest.

Perception: 9  

     Bàn takes up a basic defensive position where he can watch the hall and Owl, on his shoulder, can keep an eye onQinfaren and that room...

Qinfaren searches the bedroll looking for anything of interest. There's nothing amongst the frost giant's bedding. There's nothing in the room either.

Bàn keeps a look out but doesn't see anything heading in their direction.

     "Next room then?" Bàn suggests to Qinfaren and starts shifting over that way.

     "Ricky?  You still alive out there?  You joining us?" Bàn calls out to the other.

"I wonder if there are even any prisoners here," Qinfaren muses as they continue on to the next unexplored room. "Maybe the wolves were just luring us here to deal with the very sad and angry mammoth."

He nods at Bàn's suggestion and joins the sorcerer to take a look at the next room. 

Ricky calls back. "Aye. This is a lost cause. The wolves clearly had a strange motive. Let's go see which are left alive."
