As they reach the crest, their laughter fades quicker than the disappearing light at the sight of a massive shadow swooping down from the sky. Up ahead, a group of figures battle amongst the few structures that mark the beginning of the small town, the sound of metal clanging in the waning light. Gus Broom, Cleric of Sune, turns to the driver. “Aye, Reginald, it’s time for me to go. He get yerself to Azailia and the boys. I’ll go on foot from here. Stay outta sight, he hear?”
The dwarf approaches the figures - kobolds. Damned things, he thinks with a grin. Ah well, welcome to Greenest, I suppose, he thinks as he unhooks his mighty warhammer and approaches the battle...
The kobold Celadrim targeted hears your command and then sees the fire in your eyes and ducks, making his small form as small as he can, making your firebolt shoot over his head and into the building behind him.
The three kobolds panic and attack the combatants who are closest to them with their daggers:

Harbinger sliced through the kobold who tried to attack him and it went down with one hit. Moving to the next enemy kobold he gives his enemy a grievous blow. The kobold is severely injured but holds on to life by the skin of his teeth.
The woman hears Wolfstine's comment and takes a defensive stance, ready to attack if one of the kobolds moves towards her family again.
The Half-Elf turns back to the family and casts Cure Wounds on the Father 10
At this time the newcomer Gus joins the fray. Moving into the battlefield.
The elf answers Wolfstine's comment. "Perhaps we should keep one alive. I have little confidence that a lowly kobold would be of much use, but anything we could learn might proove useful in dealing with this threat."
Gus hooks his warhammer back away m, hearing at least a couple non-kobolds ask for a prisoner. Then he charges headlong towards the kobold. Stubby legs churning, he will try to grapple the wannabe dragon: “C’mere ye little lizard!” Strength18
The woman replies "We are all headed to the Keep near the center of town!" as she moves to pick up one of her children.
The Kobold that had been trying to struggle free is frozen in fear and manages out in a small voice "Master said there was treasures. We came to get it."

Stepping forward, and shouting at the kobold in a commanding voice, the elf says, "Who is your master, and what treasure was promised you?! Speak or you will feel my fire!"
Then, turning to the other combatants, he says, "We should help these people reach the safety of the keep, and we should hurry. They should not be out in the open right now."
