You all find a decently sheltered place to camp near the hillside, surrounded by a small group of trees and start gathering wood for a fire and choosing your sleeping spots. Just then you hear the familiar clang of metal on metal in the distance in the direction of the Triboar Trail, but not so far. Its maybe a 100 feet away through trees and brush, but definitely a battle in progress.
“More goblins, and a chance to learn more about Cragmaw castle. We know where it is, but perhaps we can learn more about the status of our friend, or else what enemies await us there.”
“We should try to ensure that one of the goblins survives.”
(Seeing Velshir and Prentiss head off to investigate, the rest follow.)
As you clear the brush and trees, you spot a human male wearing chain mail, holding a shield in one hand and wielding a fierce looking Battle Axe in the other fending off Goblins. There is some sort of marking on his shield, but you cannot tell what it is from here. One goblin lays dead to his left, another that's slashing and cursing at him from injuries sustained is in front of him, and another with its back to you to his right. He has sustained some injuries already and is trying to keep the one to his right in front of him, but it keeps edging around trying to get to his flank.
Goblin(Front) - "Stupid human, dooesn't know when to quit. You're outnumbered! We'll get through that metal armor soon."
Goblin(Right) - "Yes, spoils to rebuild clan. I'll be leader!" This get an annoyed glare briefly from Goblin (front)"I'm leader!" He shouts back, then the discussion converts to what sounds like angry goblin as they continue the battle.
Your group emerges 60' behind the Goblin to his right. None have them have noticed you as of yet.
(The 'human male' may feel free to post whatever he'd like at this point and will notice the others emerging from the trees very soon unless they try to avoid your sighting them in their posts)
“There will be a day that i die, but unfortunately for you goblin scumbags, that day is not today! You will not stop me from achieving my revenge!”
Cal Pol smashes down on one of the goblins with his battle axe 6 if it hits a divine radiant force adds to the power of the blow. 11
although caught up in the battle you can’t help but notice how fabulous his hair looks and how perfectly chiselled his jawline is. If he didn’t have large scar going down his face you’d swear he was too handsome to know how to use a weapon.
“That fellow could use a few friends. Let us be quick about it.”
Then he dashes into the fray, sprinting to easily close the distance, giving the axe-wielded a berth so as not to surprise or alarm him too much, and coming at the goblins from the other side. As he does so, he shouts out, partly to warn the man, partly to worry the goblins,
“Help is coming, good sir! Just be sure to leave one of the goblins alive for interrogation, but the others can die for all we care!”

Prentiss initiative 7
Realizing that most of his attack options might hit the captivating human, Prentiss instead gestures at the 'front' goblin, casting frostbite - DC13 CON save or take 2 cold damage and have disadvantage on next attack roll.

Goblin save vs Frostbite - 15
Velshir calls out encouraging his friends to join the fray and to the handsome human in the battle ahead, ready to assist in the fight.
Prentiss drawing moisture from the air as he too moves closer to the battle.
Loren, moving swiftly on short legs, draws and fires his bow as he runs. The arrow cutting the air, burying deep into the goblin's skull and vaulting it forward into the other now glistening goblin, bowling them over like pins into a pile to the front left of the Human.
The Handsome Human now finds himself free from combat, battle over.
Velshir initially concerned that both Goblins are dead, notes that the chilled Goblin's pulse beats slowly through the frost
*Green for good guys, Red for bad guys - this is assuming our new player plans to be good, which is a DM assumption based on his class.
Velshir ties up the goblin and engages the Handsome Human in dialogue as he does so. His demeanor comes off as businesslike, more of an interrogation than a conversation.
"Who are you, what brings you into these parts, and how did you earn these goblins' ire?"
“Well hello everyone! I appreciate your efficient intervention. My name is Cal, Cal Pol.”
”These Goblins, tried to jump me as I rested, I think they had an eye on my shield.”
He stamps it into the ground, and looks to the group.
“For now, I can pledge my shield to your cause and offer you some divine protection. My quest for vengeance seems to have hit a cold trail. What say you fine adventurers?.”
Cal Pol rise to his feet from a knealed position, as he does the wind catches his hair and time seems to slow down, and you completely forget how long you’ve been looking and listening to him. You realise he’s not just handsome, there something about him that makes you feel better about yourself just being in his presence.
Inspiring leader :You can spend 10 minutes inspiring your companions, shoring up their resolve to fight. When you do so, choose up to six friendly creatures (which can include yourself) within 30 feet of you who can see or hear you and who can understand you. Each creature can gain temporary hit points (5). A creature can't gain temporary hit points from this feat again until it has finished a short or long rest
The wind blows through as a chill hits and the clouds seem to darken. Cal Pol's eyes seem different. You sense no anger, but a steely dark resolve of determination radiates from his face.
"I seek the Barbarian who murdered my family and left me to die amongst the blood and ashes of my village. His death now is my only concern. "
He reaches into his sack and pulls out bagpipes, throwing them on the floor." I never saw his face and my only clue is this terrible instrument, shortly after he murdered everyone, he played the most beautiful song. I will get him to play it once more."
The clouds part and the sun returns, "Forgive me adventurers, I can be consumed by my quest for vengeance at times, I am no closer to finding him than they day I left my village, perhaps in future journeys together I may get closer to my goal, perhaps I will not."
The sun has completely set now, and a soft moonlight illuminates your location.
(As Cal Pol speaks, you feel more and more comfortable in his company somehow. I've added 5 temp hp to each of your character sheets for those that hadn't already)
“Perhaps you’ll aid us on out own quest, then. Our employer and friend, a well-to-do dwarf, has been kidnapped by goblins. We are trying to rescue him. We believe him to be in a goblin stronghold known as Cragmaw Castle. We have the location but know little else about it. I’m hoping this nearly frozen goblin may tell us more. But it’ll likely be dangerous and your company would be helpful to us.”
"A pleasure, Cal. I am Prentiss and I fell in with this fine group when they saved me from a predicament much the same as your own. They - we - are good people I feel, and I see a bright soul within you. If I can find a way to help you in your quest for vengeance then I shall do so, although I would humbly suggest that even monsters may be redeemed"

Velshir would like to investigate, and hopefully not alone.
“We should see if some malfeasance is underway, and perhaps intervene to set things right.”
Velshir's perception picks up at least one Goblin voice and a Human male voice.
Velshir says to the group,
“More goblins, and a chance to learn more about Cragmaw castle. We know where it is, but perhaps we can learn more about the status of our friend, or else what enemies await us there.”

Prentiss checks his daggers and grasps the crystal at his neck "I'm coming with you"

Loren raises his bow and lets fly with an arrow towards the goblin facing away from the party, on the human's right, with a deadly whistle.
Attack: 21 Damage: 10 + 6 for sneak attack!

Slightly out of breath "What...did I..miss...?"
