Velshir will stand and announce his presence by speaking loudly and clearly. He stands in an unassuming, nonthreatening manner.
"My name is Velshir, and my comrades and I meant no harm. We were merely being cautious. This area has been dangerous of late, and we've had more than one run-in with malcontent goblins and other unsavories."
She smiles at Prentiss' politeness and then responds to Velshir, " Velshir. Your comrades?" Looking curiously at Prentiss. Then, returning her gaze to Velshir, "You will come to no harm here, just a respite. My girls know you are no danger to us and will mind their manners. I am Coralie, this is Leigh," gesturing to one, "and this is Emele." gesturing to the other, "my grand-daughters." She speaks very clearly and slowly, not rushed. Leigh and Emele both nod and bow slightly at Prentiss and Velshir as they are introduced and you quickly note that they appear to be twins. Large jade eyes, dark hair cut shoulder length, very pale skin and both of similar age with longer/wider features than you are accustomed to. They immediately return their attentions to their respective watch however.
"Sit, sit please. I was just about to serve up some stew. There's plenty for all and some fish I'd preserved from the coast." She points at several pieces sizzling on flat plates on rocks around the fire. "I supposed we've been fortunate then, as have come down from Neverwinter and had heard this region was dangerous, but have not had trouble so far. Tell me of your adventures and what lies ahead."
If he detects no red flags, then Velshir will accept the invitation, sit, and begin to relate their adventures, starting with their hiring and travels to the area and then first scuffle with the goblins and the nearby cave. As he mentions Gundren Rockseeker he will ask Coralie if she knows or as heard of the dwarf.
Coralie looks up to greet Joshua as he enters camp. "Hello, come sit." She dishes up stew and sets a plate of fish and bowl of stew nearby to him, holding them each with a cloth to resist the heat through the metal. She then unwraps more fish and sets its to cook sprinkling spices from a pouch over the fish.
Listening to your tale, she nods, "Then I have little to fear on the road for some way. I have not heard of this Gundren but am new to the region and hope you find him. We may have passed the cave you mentioned that had the goblins a little bit ago though I didn't explore. We experienced no trouble and there were terrible carcasses of horses near the road. They appear to have been dragged off of it, perhaps by soldiers patrolling and had been killed some time ago. These are likely the same you mention in your encounters earlier."
@Velshir He suspects nothing deceptive about the woman or her companions. His passive perception notes a shimmer about her clothing as it emanates a softening glow which produces more of a calming effect than anything harmful and a symbol worked into her necklace.
.
Emele moves in to kneel near to the woman and gather up some fish and stew for herself. She leans towards the ear of the woman as she lowers, "A little one and a shiny one, but no danger. That Owlbear must be further on as no sign of it."
Prentiss sits and gratefully accepts some of the food. He is more intimidated by Coralie's grand-daughters than any of the beasts he has fought in the last few days, knowing that he is invisible to them and rightly so. He fights the burning urge to scratch or hide his scales, trying so hard to act nonchalantly about his curse.
He eats in silence apart from polite, appreciative noises. He finds Velshir's recounting of their travels together thrilling, to think that he has been a part of such tales. The parts before he joined the party excite him and make him proud to be part of the team.
Coralie looks to Velshir, "I am a healer, an herbalist and a trader. Selune," she presses her hand to her necklace, "guides me this way. I know not why, and likely have far to go. I don't think you are my destination and I don't sense that Phandalin is. So we will travel on. Emele and Leigh finished their Samarai training some time ago and felt the need of a bigger challenge, so I've brought them with me. There is an Owlbear ahead about a day's journey I think and a mated pair I suspect, that are creating turmoil in the forest. We will investigate this before continuing on too far. Tell me, all are well in Phandalin?"
Cal pol sits down beside Prentiss and gives him a wink as he sits down.
”My friend, I hope I can call you that. Forgive me if I speak out of turn, it’s in my character. Its from my experience that Just because someone doesn’t say much doesn't mean people don't notice you. It's actually the quiet ones who often draw the most attention. There's this constant whirlwind of motion and sound all around, and then there's the quiet one, the eye of the storm.”
he pats prentice on the back as he stands up and once again looks off into the sky.
Velshir explains that things are looking up in Phandalin, briefly relating some of the party’s adventures with the red coats etc, and not in a boastful way.
“Do you need some help handling the owlbears? We are quite capable.”
They all glance up as Cal Pol enters the camp. Emele whispering to Coralie, "That's the shiny one." Grinning.
Then looking over at Prentiss, "Eye of the Storm seems apt." She says smiling, gazing at him a moment not unkindly, not explaining. Then to the rest. "We travel, seeking people that need our help. Our Grandmother is very humble." Stopping before continuing as Coralie flashes a look at her and bows her head slightly in respectful obedience.
Leigh comes to join the group, "My sister talks too much," says sitting down, "but you are grandmother." She gathers some stew and eats quickly.
Coralie nods a little and then to the group. "One should not boast. I go where I'm led." She sips a cup slowly. "I just welcome you to our camp." She says, dishing up stew for Cal Pol and more for the others. "Our meeting is chance as far as I can tell."
"Eye of the Storm" she called him, and Prentiss could not help but glow slightly with pride, a strange feeling for him. Only recently his new companions had complimented his curse as a strength, and now this kindly, humble stranger - who no doubt hid some secrets of her own - was telling him that he was wrong about himself.
Wrought with conflict about how to respond, he followed his nature "You are too kind, fair Coralie. Your hospitality is humbling and if I every find myself in a position to repay it then I shall do so"
Coralie smiles at the comments from Prentiss and says, "I'd much prefer that the next time you see a bit of suffering in another that you make an effort to ease it, though I sense that you'd do that anyway."
She turns to Velshir. "I have quite a lot actually. Probably anything you could imagine and a few things more. She leans on a staff and stands waving for Velshir and any others to follow her. Even you there."She grins at the bushes in the direction of Loren. "I don't bite." To which Leigh gives a completely accidental sounding burst of brief laughter before catching herself.
Coralie ignores this and continues to lead you to an overloaded cart of trade supplies. "Jesper,"she says gesturing at the Draft horse, "will be very happy if you'd purchase some though mind I'm fond of trade, especially unusual items. Take this doll for instance..." She goes on to explain that it will save up to six phrases to repeat in specific circumstances described to it. "It's starting to unnerve me though. There's just something about dolls..." The cart she leads you too is evidence that there is little that she will pass up if it seems to have value and Jesper would very likely be extremely happy to have its load lightened.
Standing nearby to Velshir, she dusts off 'something on his sleeve' and pulls away a line of thread. He quickly notes that a section of his shirt, repaired from the battle with the bugbears under the mansion, appears as if nothing had ever occurred. The thread she pulls away is the thread that was used to repair the hole originally.
(Please take this time to consider any items you wish to purchase or sell that could be obtained in Phandalin and RP your bartering with her for such. She has a particular quirk to her personality that may be interesting here.)
Velshir is a bit of an ascetic and has little interest in mundane items. He will seek out anything that might have magical properties. If he doesn't find any, he would be interested in large club-like weapons (greatclub), rather wanting something with a little more weight behind it than his trusty javelin can deliver.
Prentiss approaches Jesper and the cart, curious to see what Coralie might have but not hopeful that he might be able to afford anything. He almost wishes that they had the necromancer's spellbook, but it was right that Sheyla had taken it. And other members of the group had a tendency to rely on items more than he did. But still, could it hurt to ask...
"Coralie, if you don't mind - would you have anything that might allow me to see in the dark as if I were an elf or dwarf?"
He shuffles nervously before asking his next question: "And, erm, anything to keep nightmares at bay?"
Loren shambles over and his eyes grow wide at the sight of (what he considers to be) a great hoard of treasure. His eyes quickly try and search out any useful-looking baubles and trinkets. Perhaps a new knife, a new pair of shoes - even a hat, should the occasion arise.
@Velshir - Aside from a potion of healing, nothing that obviously has magical properties, only is in exceptionally good condition. (the items Loren seems to make note of below meet this description.)
Leigh and Emele dig through the wagon and fish out a Great Club that seems finely made (non-magical) and well balanced. Leigh hands it toVelshirto try out. "Two silver pieces if you are interested. We do have some fine blades as well though?"
Coralie nods to Joshua, "It could have many uses, especially for one as smart as you. Would you trade me one of your spells? I could provide the parchment and ink? Should only take you a couple hours of your time and it is yours. The spell is yours to choose." Holding out the doll for him to inspect.
She turns to Prentiss and thinks for a moment, "I do have what you seek, but they are particularly precious. I'd ask two spells of you. I can also provide parchment and ink. You may choose the spells though they must be different than his." She says gesturing at Joshua. Then leaning forward whispers, "I have the ability to remove curses, though the one that troubles you is your own. When you let it, it will fade." She reaches into the cart, moving around some things and produces a pair of spectacles with dark lenses.
To Loren, she smiles, watching him peruse the seemingly endless pile of things. "Climb on up, take a look about. There's lots to see and you weigh only a bit." Digging into the pile, he spots an Interesting pair of boots that look very fine, a dwarven looking mug with a jolly look, then another later with a very serious one, a jar of beads of two different colors, a bag of jelly beans, a sack of skipping stones, a skull cap with a devilish look to it, a decanter, a curious looking chest with an ornate lock, an ear horn, a tobacco pipe, a bottle of perfume, a perfectly white stone, and some small metallic discs with a design of some sort of feather on it. These are mixed among various trade goods that are typical of the local shop in Phandalin.
"And you, what do you seek?" She says addressing Cal Pol.
It is at this time that at least one of you hear the crunching of nuts near the campsite you stepped away from and look to see a large, well-bellied, dark haired man in a dark hooded robe sprinkling nuts over a bow of the stew and taking a quick spoonful. "Calvin, you're supposed to be on watch!" Emele scolds the man who bears the resemblance of family.
"But...the stew! Yes mother." 'Calvin' responds with a note of defiance and heads off towards the trees, staff in hand.
