Thanks to Bel and Aregarak’s efforts, Spirit is freed, though Aregarak quickly becomes engulfed in the rug. Aregarak is grappled, restrained, blinded, and at risk of suffocation.

Lana is thrown off-balance by the massive constricting rug, and doesn’t manage to get her knife stuck into it. 

// Spirit still has a turn, and Bel can still have an action as well. I meant to have Bel roll an opposed Strength check but it seems that post didn’t make it...so if you like, you can still use the crowbar, and give Aregarak a helping hand with a little effort (opposed Strength check). Or you can do something else! Whatever you like. //

Aregarak suffers 9 bludgeoning damage from the rug this round.

Spirit lunges at the rug grasping at it angrily with her teeth.

The rug and the area around the rug starts to crackle with energy as the ire within Aregarak starts to build, motes of electricity can be seen dancing across the surface of the rug as the minotaur gives a mighty roar!

For the rug's turn, it just maintains its hold on Aregarak.

 Aregarak takes 11 bludgeoning damage at the beginning of his turn, but manages to burst free of the rug, momentarily giving you a clean shot at the animated construct...

Lana takes a few steps back and fires an arrow directly at the rug. Meanwhile Spirit still bites at the rug as well.

Lana's magical arrow attack pierces the rug and creates a huge hole, which Spirit then further rends with powerful claws.

Bel stabs feverishly at the rug

The rug starts undulating towards Bel, rearing up as if to engulf him even as he stabs it...

(just waiting for GB now)

GB looks at the rug and cast fire bolt again on the object.

The animated rug collapses and goes up in smoldering flames.

In its attack against you, it upended the old wooden bed in this room, revealing a small wooden chest on the floor.

Bel will investigate to see if it’s locked and if he can open it.

Ancient dust falls from the small but heavy chest as Bel easily opens it. Inside are 1,200 silver pieces and 3,000 copper pieces. On top of the coins rests a square of silk, in which is wrapped a star sapphire (worth 500 gp) and a pair of matched blue topazes (worth 90 gp each).

Bel picks up the sapphire with his jaw dropped “wow, look at this!”
