I have a Noble Knight whose affiliation with his noble clan.
Requires he never carry coin.
Only his servants can. His Squire is also a true noble, since it is a requirement of the order of the wolfhound (professional investigators and witnesses against the nobility and royalty)
There is a RealLife hack.. hack-silver.. jewelry often silver coil arm bands whose only real virtue is that it is marked of every one or two silver pieces value in wieght.
Maybe a necklace marked as worth 5sp weight by a respected master silversmith.
The issues are that the Hack silver item can not be give a weight less than a lb. It also can't be given a cost less than a gold piece.
This I dealt with by giving the item a weight and value of "--". And simply leaving both in currency SP.
Because of the weight and value don't tranfer.. in the system I am at my "Jarl's" Valet carries the money. If it isn't stored some where but due to her history and "gentlefolk class" her performances at court wouldn't be "paid" for in cash.. hospitality (a "gentle" lifestyle at court plus a gift of hack-silver "profit", for when not.
The other issue is when the Jarl is not with his servants he has nothing to pay.. for.. whatever.
And this creates a reason to carry sub gold standard valuables for the thieves in our system to cleverly steal that don't break the bank.
So hack silver, trade value jewelry, or "banknotes" for the Jarls shires main industry, rice, wheat, dried fish, salt??!
Another custom item to develop.
What do you think

@DxJxC I mean, imperial weights and measures don't have decimal sub-values. You don't have 0.5lbs, you have 7 ounces.
@Toddy_Shelfungus You could just use currency on your character sheet and roleplay it as being carried by your characters servant or whatever. The listed currency doesn't have to be what's literally carried on your character
It's a 1/4lb, which is neither what I said or technically what you said. Imperial uses fractions rather than decimal. For example, you don't have 0.0.625 inches, you have 1/16 of an inch, which I completely forgot about because imperial is a silly, fantasy measurement system only good for fantasy games.

Actually I do.. What I back it up with is a custom entry in equipment, like; "-Bracelet [5sp], hack-silver" of -- weight&cost,
This is matched by an equal number of SP in currency in SP for its trade silver value, and weight. That way I or the DM if i am not currently online remembers what could be stolen. Then My PC can complain to the garrison, which may assist in the Thief's underworld reputation.

Basically, custom items need to be allowed to have decimal weights and values. I agree.

But there are official items with decimal weights. A dart weighs .25LB.
