My plan is to include all of the features mentioned above at once, but I’m not sure if they work. Darkness covers up light created by any spell lower than it, but Crown of Stars can create light as a 7th level spell. The dim light it can eventually create can actually help me, but the initial light is too bright for Boon of the Night Spirit, which requires dim light or darkness to function.
My initial idea was to cast darkness on myself when necessary to activate the boon, but does darkness cover up crown of stars?
If not, which ability do you recommend that I drop and in favor of what to replace it?
Even if it does, does this seem like a good combination to have considering I can loose concentration on darkness and be lit up with a now useless boon? What would you recommend I drop and in favor of what?
Darkness does not "cover up" crown of stars, if Darkness did then it would actually dispel Crown of Stars and the spell would be entirely gone. Crown of Stars would negate Boon of the Night Spirit. Boon of the Night Spirit will be incredibly difficult to maintain reliably in all combats unless you are a Twilight Cleric and the rest of your party have Darkvision.
Good options for Boons for a Celestial Warlock would be Boon of Fortitude - tons more healing & hit points which works well with the Searing Vengeance and BA heal that celestial warlock gets.
Boon of Combat Prowess would work well with Crown of Stars as it would allow you to guarantee the star hits it's target.
Boon of Dimensional Travel is decent as it allows you to teleport away from enemies to avoid having DA on your ranged spell attacks.
Boon of Recovery would make you immortal doubling all your healing features, but kinda boring since it isn't giving you anything new.
Boon of Energy Resistance is good for anyone that isn't using their reaction every turn which is the case for warlock.
What would be a good Boon for a Celestial Warlock?
Also, should I get rid of darkness and/or crown of stars since they don’t really go together?
Depends. Do you only even do combat? Darkness can have other uses other than just to give yourself advantage in combat.
It’s pretty roleplay centered usually with one enemy at the end. I suppose darkness could come up for a pseudo invisibility, but I’m getting Shroud of Shadow in a level anyway.
What other uses did you have in mind? Sorry if these are painfully obvious; I’m still fairly new with not many sessions under my belt.
A lot of the boons sound great, but I’m limited at the moment to the free ones, so I guess it’s between Combat Prowess and Dimension Travel. Currently my placeholder is the tough feat for the extra hitpoints. Do I go ahead and replace tough, or one of the +2 to Cons?
Why are you limited to free ones? just create for yourself a "homebrew" feat and copy-paste the boon you want into it.
Darkness allows you to hide not just yourself but your whole party or even an entire cart & horses, or you can use it to blind or otherwise block line of sight of enemies, or to extinguish torches etc.. in a room full of hostiles to create chaos and confusion.
I’ve honestly never done it before. I’ll have to look up how to do it, but it sounds good to me! I had a question about Boon of Recovery though. What is the number od dice in the pool? It doesn’t seem to say anywhere in the description.
Interesting. I didn’t think most characters could see in magical darkness: only devil’s sight warlocks and shadow sorcerers. I guess we could form a conga line or tie ropes to each other, but it seems kinda technical. Blocking line of sight could be great, but it depends on if the opponent(s) can move around it. The other option could be to cast it on myself and stay in front, but I can’t get to close or else I’m at disadvantage with eldritch blast.
Do you (or anyone else) happen to know if my imp familiar can see through magical darkness? Perhaps it could be a useful way to get in the opponent's face and help keep it alive long enough to help with Gift of the Ever-Living ones?

It seems like 2024 is trying to be more like the Dungeon Dudes ruling that you can see stuff beyond the Darkness even if you can see stuff within Darkness. Which would be sufficient if you're using it to e.g. sneak a cart past a guard tower at night.
I ended up going with the Boon of Recovery to go with my Gift of the Everliving ones. I just have to figure out a way to keep my familiar alive in combat.
Thanks for all of your help!

Darn. Ok thanks.

I see. I’ll try to keep that in mind.
