String at least 10 ft generally 50'+ Chalk 10 pieces - 2 as chalk sticks, 8 ground up to powder in a "druggist's fold" (of waxed paper) pitons (2-3) - lighter than iron spikes and work just as well, and are meant to be removable ball bearings - i divide the 100 into 5 paper tubes of 200 each - you almost never really need all 1000 but 200 bbs on the floor can be a disaster to foes. Caltrops - the only problem is that you really want more than 20 and then you have to pick them up after you've used them candle (s) - too many possible uses besides light oil at least 3 flasks, at least 1 each of acid, alchemist's fire etc - just too useful when trying to avoid wasting spells small knife - fighting daggers are way to big for general cutting jobs - think of this as your basic Swiss army knife signal whistle - again can be very useful, depending on magic levels I like to replace these with the common magic item - staff of birdcalls - really great for coded communications in hiding
Plate is great - if you have proficiency and don’t worry about Dex. That means for many it’s useless so yes it’s mundane and equipment but not something everyone can use like rope, string, etc. Probably the most useful mundane item is actually a dagger/knife - the blade cuts and prays, the butt hammers, you can use it as just about any sort of tool, strike flint against it you can start a fire, heat it and you can cauterize a bad wound, attach it to the end of a pole and you have a fish spear, the list is almost endless as it’s been the basic “human tool” as long as humans have had tools pretty much.

Have you ever tried to hold a ladder horizontally by the end of it? Let alone moving through any kind of interior space with one?

I think I have to go with plate armor. It's pretty good.
You are winning the game. Good job! Oh wait...
