So recently in a game of mine we’re about to go up against the BBEG and we just got a boon from a god, making us all level 20, me in practicer made a deal with the god and have to take at least 3 levels in Paladin, right now I’m a level 8 fighter who’s a gunslinger, I’m unsure of exactly what to do, is their a good way to work Paladin into gunslinger.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Marvarax andSora (Dragonborn) The retired fighter and WIP scholar - Glory
Brythel(Dwarf), The dwarf with a gun - survival at sea
Jaylin(Human), Paladin of Lathander's Ancient ways - The Seven Saints (Azura Claw)
Urselles(Goblin), Cleric of Eldath- The Wizard's challenge
Viclas Tyrin(Half Elf), Student of the Elven arts- Indrafatmoko's Defiance in Phlan
Well... without knowing too much about gunslingers being anti them myself personally.
if you went Oath of Conquesg paladin. The channel divinity ability is 1 time you can add +10 to an attack roll (usually guaranteeing a hit) that you can then use all your divine smite slots on to do extra damage.

Unfortunately paladin levels will be a poor choice for your fighter since divine smite is only usable with melee weapons. None of the other abilities are really worth trading out for the top level fighter features. Healing hands would only net you 15 hp. Divine health is irrelevant at 20th level. Divine sense is nice to have but only occasionally useful. Another fighting style will not help a gunslinger much. Since your DM is making you take paladin I would seek permission to homebrew divine smite to be usable with your pistols. With only three spell slots it will still be hardly worth it.
It might make more sense to take 3 levels of Warlock instead. Take the Celestial patron and at least you could get some minor healing and invocations out of the deal. If you took Pact of the Tome and the Invocation 'Book of Ancient Secrets' you would at least have access to some nifty magics. If you went with Warlock then fighter 12/warlock 8 might be a decent split.
