"I'm not a kid, you know. I'm just small. Even for a Strugel, I'm pretty short."
“No I knew that. It’s just… it’s gotta sting even more that I’m so much younger and stuff.”
"Eh, yeah, but I got over it a while ago. You've got so much natural talent it's crushing. You could microwave an espresso and make something so perfect it could sacrificed for our sins and rise again three days later. I don't need to be like that. I just want to be respected and loved despite being compared to you."
Mauric turns to face Felix directly. “Alright, you gotta listen to me about this. I wasn’t born good at this. Once I could start cooking, I worked every day of my life to be as good as I could at this. It wasn’t natural at all.”

No news is good news…
I'll lay a white rose on the cold earth, knowing it that it has not claimed your soul.
The winds pick up outside the tavern, storm clouds rolling in and disappearing as fast as they came. On top of the tavern roof, a woman sits. She has long black hair tied into bubble braids with pieces of silver metal dividing them. Her skin is chocolate brown with white glowing markings in Japanese that resemble the characters for rain, wind, thunder, and storm. She wears an orange blue and white kimono with depictions of people climbing a mountain, weasels with knives for tails waiting at the top. Her nails are long and appear to made out of pure silver. She smokes a long pipe that is styled to look like clouds that produces a cold smoke.
A lean, impossibly handsome man with sunglasses, stylish clothes, and a shining gold scarf sits down beside her, about 5 feet away. He offers her a Pocky stick from his little box.
She plucks one out, devouring it "Many thanks.' she said, her voice low.
"Welcome. You a demon too? Sorry if that's a rude question. It's hard to tell. All these spirits and gods, sometimes it's hard to find who wants to kill me and who doesn't."

"That's nice. I'm technically a demon prince myself. Emphasis on technically. Anyone who rules over a large enough mass of evil spirits gains that title eventually, and being a demon myself doesn't help." He lets a little soot sprite out of his sleeve, which runs up to her. "Ah. Another one. They get everywhere. Can't get mad at them though. They just wanna help."

"So... you're saying that... hmm... so you tried to be the best while I was trying to make art. We both succeeded at both goals to an extent, but we each reached a nearly unapproachable peak. It just happens that my peak is also terrifying to the modern diner."

"Yup. I make a lot of them. They're cheap labor, and fun to take care of. They eat candy."

“…yeah, pretty much. I mean, I was trying to make art in a way too, I guess I just stuck a lot more to customary standards of cooking.” He turns back to the bar, sighing. “But some things are just random. Be it a pantheon, a one true God, fate, chance, or whatever, there are things that can’t be controlled.”

"About as strong as a teenager, actually. But not too fast. Great little friends. When they stop working, they tend to collapse back into ash. Natural ones are better, but it's better that they stay away from the Demon Pit."

"Well, I find that these little creatures are adorable. It is unfortunate they stop working and cease to exist. I imagine people would be willing to pay a pretty coin for one of these as a pet." She said and snuggles one despite how tiny it is with a content smile.

"I give them away for free, along with a note with their names so you can resummon them. I also give out care guides on the same notes. They tend to strike if they don't like you. Anyway, we give away bento boxes with these things in them. They help a lot with reconstruction efforts. I own Third Seal, that big food-delivery company. I've been trying to use those resources to help people in need. Thus the bento boxes."
