In the city of Neverwinter, a dwarf named Gundren Rockseeker asked you to bring a wagon load of provisions to the rough-and-tumble settlement of Phandalin, a couple of days' travel southeast of the city. Gundren was clearly excited and more than a little secretive about his reasons for the trip, saying only that he and his brothers had found "something big," and that he'd pay you ten gold pieces each for escorting his supplies safely to Barthen's Provisions, a trading post in Phandalin. He then set out ahead of you on horse, along with a warrior escort named Sildar Haliwinter, claiming he needed to arrive early to "take care of business." You've spent the last few days following the High Road south from Neverwinter, and you've just recently veered east along the Triboar Trail. You've encountered no trouble so far, but this territory can be dangerous. Bandits and outlaws have been known to lurk along the trail.
You've all just met and are now traveling on the road with a wagon. Please introduce yourselves to each other or don't if you think your character is the secretive or antisocial type. Also, decide which one of your characters knows of Gundren Rockseeker and how exactly they know him. You don't have to do this if you don't want to. I can concoct a reason. But it may be fun for one of your characters to have an emotional tie to him, as it may raise the stakes. And lastly, please tell me how each of your characters are traveling in relation to the wagon. One of you must drive it, but the others could either scout ahead of the wagon, walk beside it, or ride on it, or any other thing you can think of.
Lastly, when you are doing something in character please have IC: before it. If there is no IC: I will assume you are speaking to me not as your character but as a player to the DM.
Galbek will sit in the back of the wagon with the provisions, keeping mostly to himself other then to occasionally make a noise to voice his displeasure at a bump in the road or some other type of minor inconvenience. If asked about himself the kenku will say in a gruff voice that seems strange for him. "I steal, fight and do what gets me money."
IC: "My fellow wagon escorts, I haven't properly introduced myself. I am Inxori, Inx for short." Inx throws his hands in the air, and when they reach as high as they will do, a shower of fireworks stream out of his oversized sleeves as he jumps down from the shotgun position on the wagon to the road below. He continues walking beside it and explains, "a drunkard at tavern last night told me he was planning to see Gundren about a job. I was looking for work myself, so, I bought him a few more than he should have had, and introduced myself to Gundren the next day. How do you all know him?"
IC: Atala scouts ahead, bow out as she glances around, looking for anything that might mean danger. "Everyone doing alright back there? You okay Gundren?"She asks, having only know the dwarf a little while, but he seemed to understand why she acted the way she acted and she appreciated him for it. She just looks at Inx, not really sure how to explain either her relationship to Gundren or even introduce herself. She returns her focus to scouting ahead for the time being, hoping they'd be done with their mission and she'd get the chance to be long gone before she actually had to introduce herself.
BaconExpert982 Gundren is not with you guys. He traveled ahead of you guys with a separate party.
You've been on the Triboar Trail for about half a day. As you come around a bend, you spot two dead horses sprawled about fifty feet ahead of you, blocking the path. Each has several black-feathered arrows sticking out of it. The woods press close to the trail here, with a steep embankment and dense thickets on either side. What do you do?
Please feel free to talk out of character to one another about what each of you will do before you actually do it.
IC: An older soldier sits in the drivers seat of the wagon. He watches Inx jump out and start his little show.
"Hey would you keep it down, it's a little early for that racket." He says with a slight but possibly deceiving smile.
"Inx eh? Sounds pretty foreign. I'm Rigg. Gundren is an old acquaintance of mine. At least he likes to think so, I just do odd jobs for him here and then. Usually solo, fortunately."
Rigg continues to steer the wagon.
OOC: lol I was only a few minutes behind why skip ahead of intro?
Seeing the arrow filled horses on the trail ahead of them, Galbrek will draw his shortbow and quickly knock an arrow. Keeping his bow in a resting firing position he will crouch and make his way up towards driver's bench. "Trap?" He asks in voice that resembles a young child whispering.
OCC: First thing we should do is a group wide perception check to listen or look for anything that may be around. My plan is to use the wagon and provisions in it to get cover and then give support to those in melee range with my shortbow so I can also add in my sneak attack damage.

Fae would of been walking beside the wagon, remaining pretty silent for most of the ride. She'd keep an eye on the biggest gap amongst the group and would always position herself there.
Spotting the horses up ahead along with the others, Fae would simply nod agreeing with Galbrek and Rigg. She'd scan her area along with the group.
Enkindle has not been much into chatting with the others throughout the journey. There were previous attempts along the way, and even an offer to shake a hand. However, the moment she started to do either, or physical contact seemed imminent, her hair started to turn into fire begining at tips perpetually flickering like flames. So, she abandoned the effort, and kept to walking alongside the cart to be on guard while avoiding further risks.
The most she can muster is her name, "Enkindle" if ever asked as much. Of how she knew of Gundrun, she has yet to even mutter. But Gundrun would know that her "arrival" in Neverwinter was little more than a distant cousin pushing her off on him to gain experience working outside the temple.
After the dead horses are spotted...:
Wordlessly, Enkindle just adjusts her shield to make sure its firmly in place, conjures a ball of fire in the other, and then start to approach the dead horses if someone doesn't call out for her to stop.
