Weapon (mace), artifact (requires attunement by a non-good aligned creature)

This fearful mace is in the shape of a demonic skull, with glowing green eyes.  It deals 2d6 bludgeoning damage on a hit, and 3d6 necrotic.  If you reduce a creature to 0 hit points with this weapon, they must succeed on a DC 19 Constitution saving throw.  On a failure, their soul is ripped out and devoured.  Undead are immune to this effect.  This creature cannot be resurrected other than by divine intervention.  When this mace devours a soul, it deals 2d6 extra necrotic damage for 1 minute, and regains all charges.  If you hit a creature with this mace as part of your Attack action, you may make 1 attack with it as a bonus action.

This mace has 10 charges.  It regains 1d10 + 1 expended charges daily at dawn (or all if you devour a soul).  You can expend 10 charges to make a single devastating attack.  If you hit, it counts as a critical hit.  In addition, whether the target is reduced to 0 hit points or not, they must make the Constitution saving throw or have their soul devoured.

Spells.  You can cast the following spells through the mace by expending the required amount of charges: dominate person (3 charges), fireball (2 charges, as a 3rd-level spell, the flames are green instead of red), lightning bolt (2 charges, as a 3rd-level spell), chain lightning (5 charges, as a 6th-level spell), banishment (2 charges), plane shift (5 charges, only to the Abyss), and forcecage (5 charges).  Unless your spell save DC or attack bonus is higher, you get +7 to hit, DC 17.

The mace is a chaotic evil sentient weapon, with an Intelligence of 15, Wisdom of 13, and Charisma of 18.  It's soul (pun intended) motivation is to devour as many souls as possible, and urges its wielder telepathically to bathe it in the blood of the innocent.

If you are reduced to 0 hit points while attuned to this weapon, you must succeed on a Constitution saving throw (DC 19) or have your soul devoured.

Proficiency with a mace allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
