Wondrous Item, rare
This item can be encountered in many forms.
It has been known to be found in the following ways but may take on other forms.
- A scroll, once read the beard appears on the readers face
- A Potion that once sniffed or sipped has the beard crawl out of the depths and cover the users face. (Beards can hide inside of healing potions and other potions making identification tricky)
- On the corpse of a person it has killed it will lay dormant until someone comes too close.
Adjust the saving throws to your players level to avoid the beards affects.
The cursed beard then consumes everything that comes near the affected players mouth. Food and drink are consumed making starvation a real possibility! The player needs to seek help as soon as possible!
If dispel magic is cast.... all items eaten fall on the ground. Beard disappears.
If remove curse is cast.... devouring ends. The beard becomes a beard of holding.
The leftover beard of holding is actually now quite a blessing! It functions as a bag of holding but also grants Advantage on slight of hand 1x per day to steal from a vendor. Once fooled a vendor cannot be fooled by this ever again.
The beard of holding is deemed extremely unfair in drinking contests.
