The Smuggler's Cape is a legendary artifact first worn by Opi Lorenz, one of the four founders of the Eight Roads Market. The Cape is red, with gold trim and a detailed pattern in green and gold stitching. Little is publicly known about the Cape, in comparison to other artifacts, due to Lorenz's secretive nature. Only the other three Founders were aware of its existence.

As a bonus action, the attuned wearer can sequester another creature within the cape itself, or release a sequestered creature. Only one Medium creature may be sequestered within the cape at one time, and the creature is unable to perceive any details of its surroundings while sequestered. Creatures targeted by the sequester action must make a DC 17 Charisma saving throw, or be drawn into the Cape; this saving throw can be intentionally failed by creatures willing to be drawn into the Cape. Unwilling creatures may repeat the saving throw as an action on their turn, and are freed in a random space within five feet of the attuned user on success.

If the Cape is destroyed while a creature is sequestered within it, the creature is lost inside of the demiplane. The creature can only be retrieved by use of a Wish spell.

* If a creature on bad terms with Methis attempts to attune to the Cape, they are instead targeted as unwilling creatures to be sequestered. If the would-be attuner is drawn into the cape, they cannot be freed until another creature attunes to the cape and releases them. On success, the attunement succeeds.
