You gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. It has the thrown property with a normal range of 20 feet and a long range of 60 feet. When you hit with a ranged attack using this weapon, it deals an extra 1d8 damage or, if the target is a giant, 2d8 damage. Immediately after the attack, the weapon flies back to your hand.
Proficiency with a Warhammer allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Push. If you hit a creature with this weapon, you can push the creature up to 10 feet straight away from yourself if it is Large or smaller.
Notes: Bonus: Magic, Damage: Additional, Damage: Additional, Dwarf, Damage, Combat, Versatile, Push
The Hammer of Thunderbolts would be closer to the mythical Thor's Mjolnir, as in some of the Norse legends, Thor, had magic gauntlets and a magic belt that allowed him to wield Mjolnir.
Mjolnir!!!
Let's just call this what it really is, it's Aegis Fang, except it can only be used by a dwarf.
That was a homebrew call made by Matt on critical role for grog to use one while wearing the belt.
I as a DM have made similar allowances. for example a non wizard attuning to the hat of wizardry if they are also attune to the headband of intellect.
It’s awesome
Would you let your players attune to this thing if they had the belt of dwarven kind?
Probably not
This one feels more like mjolnir too. The giantslaying aspect may not be a specific mjolnir power, but that's certainly what Thor did with it.
drizzt and crystal shard had wulfgars hammer which is basically this
If you can ONLY attune to this if you are a dwarf, then can the dwarven plate be used by a non-dwarf, or can it only be used by a dwarf?
Is this a ranged weapon? I have a barbarian with this and I don't know if I can add prof bonus to my attack rolls.
As long as you are proficient with warhammers then you can add your proficiency bonus to any attack you make with it. However you can't at rage bonus to the damage, and can't give yourself advantage if you throw as both specify strength based melee attacks.
It's based on actual Thor's hammer, Mjolnir, from Norse Mythology which has been around since the 5th century.
So it's 1d8 one handed, 1d10 two handed, 2d8 thrown, 3d8 thrown at a giant?
My character just died. Our next session I'm going to introduce my new (and newly approved by DM) character to our DtA game. A halfling Barb/Cavalier riding a young T-Rex mount... In hell. OMG
I haven't done this combo before but I think Unarmored Defense, Bear Totem, the Mounted Combatant feat, a shield, and the DM-allowed Dwarven Thrower are going to be a good combo to draw attention away from allies and tank some damage. And holy hell it'll be fun!!
You can attune to 3 items
Only the real ones know.
I played a dwarf with one in AD&D in 1978. I loved that hammer. I know exactly how Thor feels about his hammer.
"from the marvel movies" lol
While you are true, the words as written say you have to be attuned to the weapon by a dwarf. Doesnt say that you have to be a dwarf to do so
