Posted Sep 16, 2020It may not have been RAW, but this is exactly the kind of stuff DMs are encouraged to do. Your player made a significant, selfless, well thought-out roleplay decision; why not reward her with something cool and unexpected?

Posted Oct 3, 2020well that is interesting to hear l have a character that is multiclassing and image that been a neutral evil Wizard sorcerer and having the robes and then reaching level 20 then turn into a lich that would be insane

Posted Dec 11, 2020Risk is always good, and if it’s balanced risk then I’d say it’s good enough. Personally though, I’d have them fight an Atropal.

Posted Dec 20, 2020I can only imagine a warlock getting this if every other spell casting party member gets this or something better and the warlock also isn't a hexblade so you dont waste the robe by not casting spells. just get a +5ac studded leather at this point.

Posted Dec 22, 2020Well obviously in a multi-mage party, I was just speaking generally bc of the AC boost in addition to boosting spellcasting. So sure, if there is a party of 5 wizards and a hexblade, the hexblade isn't getting it.
With enough short rests expected though a non-melee warlock probably has the best case to claim it.

Posted May 3, 2021So would it be possible for me (as a sorcerer) to create one of these things?
How much GP, and time would it cost?

Posted May 8, 2021If you go by the suggestions in Xanathar's Guide to Everything, it would take you approximately 50 weeks of dedicated work (2,000 hours) and 100,000 GP. You will likely also need rare ingredients that cannot be easily bought and that are either protected by a CR 19+ creature or harvested from one.
Before you start any work, you will also need to either find a formula or develop one through research. This will let you know exactly what ingredients are involved and how to perform the enchantment. You will also need proficiency in the Arcana skill.
So, yes, you can craft one, but it's going to be a great deal of work. You're probably going to spend close to 2 years in total, including the initial research time and adventures you'll need to complete to gather the necessary materials. I wouldn't be surprised if it cost you more than 130,000 GP once all expenses are considered.
In addition to all of this, you'll have to roll 5 times to see if you get any complications. This could involve additional costs and might earn you some enemies.

Posted May 10, 2021No. It states requires attunement by a sorcerer, warlock, or wizard.
Unless your rouge is also a sorcerer, warlock, or wizard then you can not attune to this item, and it would just be an ordinary robe.

Posted Sep 11, 2021Could the robe be concealed by normal means? for instance could it be taken to a tailor to create a "shell" over it... IDK just in case that evil warlock wants to use it but not announce he's the bad guy?

Posted Jan 22, 2022Can the alignment restriction be changed? Cause I had an idea for a Rogue/Wizard character that killed white wizard and took his robes, and using it in her crimes. Idk if the restriction can be bypassed, but i am askin
