This tiny item looks like a simple metal token that is inscribed with the picture of an animal.
Different types of menagerie tokens exist, each with a single use effect.

You can use an action to 'Snap' the token, activating the power within which causes you to polymorph (as the spell) into the animal inscribed upon the token. After which the token is rendered useless.

The DM chooses the token, or can determine it randomly by rolling on the chart below.
