 Mostly because poison is a damage that is not considered very powerful, but the ring or resistance could give you resistance to force or radiant, which is much more powerful. I would say rind of poison resistance should be considered uncommon.

What would the cost of this item be? I'd like to have a grung pet and then this would be a very good item to have.

I use this site for shops in the campaign I DM. The list price on it is 5000 gp. I think that's not unreasonable unless you're playing in a low magic world where magic items are hard to come by.

Rare magical items are generally suggested to be priced anywhere between 500-5000 gold. In the end, the price is whatever the DM thinks it should be that day, but I would say as a rare item you don't want to make it too cheap.

This would be great for my Oath of Alcoholism Paladin.
