For the record, as a filthy casual, I prefer the FR setting only because it's the one I'm developing a general knowledge of, both through tabletop and through video games. I'm not interested in getting into alternate settings right now... accept maybe if they brought back Gamma World just because it sounds silly.

So, we've got (in order of my recollection):
1. Tomb of Annihilation
2. Xanathar's Guide to Everything
3. Integration between Twitch and DnDBeyond
4. Integration between adventure content and roll20
5. Betrayal at Baldur's Gate
6. Neverwinter Online: Tomb of Annihilation
7. Some hint involving pink dice?
... Did I miss anything? I was doing housework throughout the stream and missed the end to watch a movie.

At this point, I'm just checking daily to see if phase 2 has started. The other features seem just fine, other than a few missing or misplaced images, and the character manager is the feature I will use most.

A voucher code is a great idea, and definitely doable. I work in a secondary academy and our students get given exam revision guides, which normally retail for between £10-£20 each. However, they also have a code inside for a free digital copy, which the students are allowed to use. Unlike being a PDF version which they could then save and pass on, the code is a single-use access to register for a secured website area with the content, including extras they couldn't fit in the book.Similarly, currently Marvel comics has free digital versions of all (I think) of their current individual issues. There's just a code under a sticker on one of the pages.
Apr 25, 2017Posted in: News & AnnouncementsRight now, I'm using a character app on my iphone that is free unless you want leveling up, which was 2.99. It's not the books, but I've yet to need anything in character maintenance other than what hasn't been added from Volo's. Really, I think it's hard to tell players to pay for digital tools. Full content for GM stuff I can see charging for, even if people own the books, but races and classes is a much harder sell. That stuff's going to have to be super cheap, at least the tools to use the books they already have. Optimally, the vast majority of character creation stuff, especially races, should be essentially free. It's too little information to pay for.

If one owns the books, would that unlock the full content at release without having to pay extra?
This program would make literally no money if that were so. Anyone using this program probably already owns at least the PHB. That's ridiculous.
When you buy the PHB, you don't then get PHBs for free, forever. You have to buy separate iterations of the rules each time, even if it's the exact same. It's the same with this program. I already own a PHB. When I buy another PHB, I have to pay. If I want this program, I have to pay. That's just how it works. There seems to be this weird confusion that Wizards of the Coast are making D&D Beyond and therefore the assumption is that if WotC are doing it, then they're charging twice for the same product, and should give it for free to the loyal and wonderful and kind and squishy-huggable customers.Which is also ridiculous seeing as even if it was WotC doing it, it'd still cost them money that would need to be recouped.Honestly, some of the requests in this thread are so whack-a-doodle as to be beyond even rolling-eyes worthy. They've gone out the other end into mouth-agape. Expecting content for free is just another passenger on that wild ride.Except that much of the functional aspect of this product is already available for free elsewhere.

Can't wait for phase 2. It's going to be great to just whip out the app for noobs, rather than walk them through character creation in the book, especially as I don't have the rules memorized myself.

A feature that would be nice on the forums would be alerts to new threads in this particular subforum. Next update announcement, I'd like to know as soon as I log in. I don't always check all the forums, but I check my alerts regularly.
Mar 28, 2017Posted in: D&D Beyond FeedbackThe positioning of the hover-over windows for monsters is more than a tad unreliable.

I've just had a slightly out-there feature idea.
Many people here are trying to make sure that the character sheets will be very customisable in terms of functionality - hiding sections you don't use, enabling extra sections for certain characters/abilities, reordering sections to suit the player. That's obviously the most important thing, because character sheets are primarily a tool to help us play the game.
That said, what if the character sheets were also customisable aesthetically, so you can change the look in various ways that don't affect functionality. The main thing I was thinking of is letting people add custom fonts and rename section titles. That way, my tiefling's sheet could be written in a homebrewed Infernal, my dwarf's sheet could use runes, my elf's sheet could be in Tengwar, or a human sheet could be written using some custom language I construct for my game. It adds nothing in terms of seeing and using your character info, but it could be a nice fun addition that gives a little bit more immersion for certain players, as some groups do with homemade props etc.
Some basic ability for changing colours/backgrounds on the sheet could also be nice. This also has a little functional benefit, as if there's one sheet with a pale pink background, another with pale yellow, another pale green, another black with white text, then a DM that needs to reference something on a character's sheet can see which one is up before they even start reading it. Obviously not a massive benefit, and the main point is user customisation and immersion, but it's a small additional pro. This is actually a really cool idea. I'd add a few presets based on races, classes, and alignments too. It is a minor feature, but the personalization goes a long way for making characters feel unique. I'd want all my stats in the standard locations (though I'm for customization for those who will use it), but having a personal aesthetic would be epic, especially with a print function. Also, the detailed options you suggest would be great for GMs who play with groups with primary languages that the app isn't available in yet once it's out.

I (for one) don't even so much hate Twitch or Curse as associate Twitch with a half-assed product... that and a half-assed product that I've used so infrequently that I took three days of not wanting to bother going through the password recovery for a product that gave me doubts by asking me for a Twitch account. Now that I'm here (and can log in via FB, though the option wasn't listed here), I'm happy with what I've seen of the product but consider it worth the warning that *I waited three days* to try a product **for free** because Twitch made me assume the worst and was also an inconvenience in itself. Those who think that's petty don't understand marketing. The audience is warning, during the beta, that Twitch's brand is inappropriate for this product and *will* damage the market share, which will be a damn shame, as this is the *official* app. This isn't Twitch-haters complaining about Twitch; it's beta-testers who love a product trying to warn the company not to shoot itself in the foot.

Hey I feel the aberrations filter is a little lacking. It's only one page. I'm pretty sure there are more aberrations than that. Also when I specifically looked for a Beholder ( D&D staple monster) It said that I failed my investigation check.Roughly once per page in this thread, an admin brings up that only SRD content is available for now, because of these questions. This beta would be a lot more convenient if the MM content that most of us take for granted were here (If only to prevent these posts from cluttering things, as many don't know what the SRD is), but that's betas.
