So I keep seeing this whole debate regarding buying DVD doesn't mean getting the bluray free later. If you go to any retailer right now and look at buying a bluray you generally have 2 options pay 19.99 for a bluray (let's call this the hard copy of a d&d book) or paying 24.99 for a package that contains that same bluray copy a 3d bluray copy and a digital version of the movie as well.

All this said I wouldn't expect a discount for already owning the bluray and wanting to buy the 3d and digital versions. However going forward it would be nice if they offered a package deal for these products similar to what we see in bluray sales.

As someone who has been using the previously offered curse provided programs which they by the way offer at absolutely 0 cost to the user. These per book prices to be honest have caused quite a bit of sticker shock for me. I've been talking up everything that's been being added for months now. Seeing that it was dropping right before we start our new campaign had us really excited. Now to see that price point we know we can spend that kind of money. Everyone in my group us grown with a mortgage and babies to take care of. Now that said that's our blessing to deal with and not curses or WotC.

Maybe my ship of gold will come in before release and I can afford to make the purchases.

1 suggestion.... my friends and I prefer to support our local gaming store over purchasing on Amazon or other online sources. Would it be possible to put out cards redeemable cards for he different books or a set dollar amount? Similar to what say blizzard does with game time cards? That way those of us loyal to our FLGS can continue to support them if we decide to go all digital and not buy hard copies. After all the community and what it represents to all of us over our lives is half yhe reason play in the 1st place

The same company is selling you those the blu-ray, 3d, and digital version.  Curse isn't WotC, they bought the licensing to be able to do this, but they aren't the same company and have no stock in you buying a physical copy of the book.
No but WotC has stock in us buying both the physical and D&DB content. Everyone can say this is a curse product not a WotC product all the want but WotC has put their official stamp on this product. They have said multiple times this is the official D&D 5e digital tool.

Whew. I was afraid I had been locked out of the update for my impatient forum posts.

Very excited to see all your work once the issue is resolved!

Haha I'm being punished for all of mine by being on location for work, having an abundance of down time and having cell signal that cycles from searching for signal to 1x to 3g to 4g LTE and back to searching for signal every few minutes. /sigh I'll be out here for the next week too...

The forums do have a search function and it's quite comprehensive, allowing you to search for specific posts and in specific forums or sub-forums, as well as other search options.

Thanks for the link Stormknight! However this option does not show up in mobile view. (At least not for me) Clicking the your link works (and i was easily able to find exactly whatvi was looking for) but unlike desktop view, mobile doesn't have this option up on the right of the page. I do 99.9 percent of my campaign building on my mobile phone. The only time I use the pc for D&D related stuff is building maps on gimp. This whole project is turning out amazing so far. Just really hoping the mobile version can get on par with the desktop. I'll bet the majority of people will be wanting this specifically for the mobile convenience. Most the mobile functionality is coming along great just a few hiccups here and there.
On another note has anyone mentioned that the mobile version cuts off the titles of the posts when I a thread? Not a huge deal but not a great thing either
Try in landscape mode on the phone - I know that certain phone sizes seem to hide some of the tools and search buttons when in portrait mode (should be a non issue in the app that will come out, and off memory they are working on it for mobile webpage viewing).
Nice suggestion. Didn't work for the 1st issue but does allow for seeing the entire title of the futon post. I'm sure it will get worked out. For now I have bookmarked the direct link to the search that Stormknight gave me.

A search function within the feedback thread could prove helpful as to avoid posting duplicate threads. With a search function one need only type one's query to see if has been covered in a previous post.

Currently having this issue now. I've spent the last 30 minutes looking for a thread on my question and haven't found 1. To simple a question to not have been answered already and I don't want to clutter things up any more then they already are.

Compared to everything else, the equipment listing is pathetic.  There really need to be more search options.

For example, when I was looking for a good finesse weapon, I had to type in, "Combat, Damage", and look through all the nonmagical melee weapons; all the nonmagical ranged weapons; all the nonmagical ammunition; vials of acid and basic poison; flasks of alchemist's fire, oil and holy water; bags of caltrops; potions of healing and torches!

You can also just type "finesse" in the search box. It'll return all weapons with just that property.
We're doing an experiment to decide to see how the more free-form text based searching for basic equipment performs and is accepted versus the filter for everything on the other listings.

Why not just have both? That's the way it is on magic items is it not? You can "free form" type in the tag or select it from the drop down box. In my opinion neither is better but used for different situations. Sometimes I know I want a "finesse" weapon sometime in not sure exactly what I'm looking for and would want the drop down box looking for something that catches my attention for that situation.

Gold Piece Values would be helpful as a DM.

The equipment section already lists the gp value. If you mean magic items, they don't have a gp value even in the Dungeon Master's Guide.
Maybe I'm missing a setting or something somewhere because I sure don't see gp values on regular items.
For non-magical equipment, the gp values are listed as "Cost" in the tables of the Compendium by section (https://www.dndbeyond.com/compendium/rules/basic-rules/equipment#AdventuringGear) or in the item header on the Equipment list page (https://www.dndbeyond.com/equipment).  They are not currently listed when you go to the "Details page" of any particular piece of non-magical equipment (such as https://www.dndbeyond.com/equipment/abacus), and I agree they should be.
Yea having them in the compendium doesn't really help a lot when the compendium and detailed lists don't link to each other. I'm sure it will all be worked out in the end. Wasn't complaining just mentioning some thing I'd like to see.

    and
    It'll be under cost.

Ok I didn't look in the compendium but in the equipment section only weapons and armor have gold cost mundane items including backpacks and such don't.

Is it possible to have each magic item's average buying/selling price? In the past I've been pretty bad at looking up or making up appropriate prices for items.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but magic items in fifth edition don't have prices. They have price ranges based on rarity, and buying/selling an item is a complicated process usually involving a quest to buy and time and a percentile roll to sell.

I keep seeing requests to list prices, but there aren't any, are there?
     You are correct.
All this being said now that we have the equipment list, is there soon to lost prices for mundane adventure gear?

Some very good news here. I'm glad players will have access to whatever their DM has bought. Still no indication of whether there will be an "access-as-a-service" option or if DMs, too, will have to buy each thing piecemeal. The character sheet looks pretty fantastic, though, able to track, like, all the things. That's awesome.

Funny until reading your post I hadn't noticed the character sheets. Went back to look again before I said "what character sheets? What am I missing?" Somehow I passed right over the pics on the article as if they were adds like every other article you read online these days. They do look great can't wait to be able to test them.

The news about the master tier is awesome. It definitely takes away some of my reservations regarding paying for the content when I have the books already. Being able to have my players have easy access to not only the WotC official content but also the homebrew content I've added to my campaign you can't really put a price on. This will allow groups to easier get new players into d&d and is a much better option to passing hardcopy books around the table.

Hoping the pricing is still manageable however.

What was the reasoning behind releasing the class section incomplete? There's just one subclass available for each (Cleric Domain, Warlock Patron, Bard College etc.)

Also, will it be updated to include races found in additional books like Volo's?

    OMFG,
They are releasing content in the freely available SRD and Basic Rules. They have not released any content from a Commercially Released Book or Supplement yet. The additional subclasses are from the PHB but are not part of the SRD or Basic Rules. Same with feats, backgrounds, etc.

I am sure they are still putting the finishing touches on the Purchase Options and Costs for "Premium Content." But this does raise the question about content that has been included in a Commercial Product and Released by WotC for Free ... The ToEE Players Companion for example. Will items from it be available for free or will they require a subscription or purchase?

I'm wondering the same thing. I'm hoping those things you mentioned as well as the info presented in the unearthed arcana articles will be part of the free version. I'm also hoping there will be an easy way to add anything purchased from DM'S Guild will be transferable to the tool. I'm sure that will be addressed during the homebrew phase though.

I understand how much time and effort is needed to do all that is planed, and what has already been released, but I feel like the content cycle is too slow. For experienced players the site as it stands is of little practical use. It is a great place to use for discussion but there are plenty of established forums for this already. Once the remainder of the stated features are added I think this site will be a very valuable tool but until then it's just another forum with arguably fancier UI and a convenient place for any new player to look at some info before purchasing the books or digital copies of them.

I somewhat feel the same way concerning how slow new content is being added. However I think what a lot of people are forgetting is this is a beta, not a finished product. It's not intended at this point to be used to build your campaign or run a game with. What's going on here is the D&D Beyond team is asking for our help to test the structure and usefulness of the content as they put it together and release it. For those of us that have hard copies of all of the material sure it's not super useful at this point but if we want it to be useful and worth all the time and effort the DDB team is putting into it the best thing we can do is give constructive insight on the workings of what is currently available and not criticism on what isn't released yet or how unuseful the current version is to us at this point.
That being said I know I myself got caught up in the trolls early on regarding cost and all that. As more and more content (as slow as we may feel it's being put out) is released the more excited I am to use this tool and less I worry about cost. I'm not made of money though so I do hope it's within my budget lol.
Great work guys can't wait to see more.
