Description
Fanatics are often part of a cult's leadership, using their charisma and dogma to influence and prey on those of weak will. Most are interested in personal power above all else.
Relly good for a boss fight at low lvl.If you add some normal cultists
I like the high Charisma score, makes sense since he’s more of an “influencer” than an actual priest.
I just like hearing Matt say "Cult Fanatic."
Yeah, it’s cool when content creators mention their fan bases
super helpful
lol
I agree.
I just wrote an encounter with a Cult Fanatic, two Cultists, and six Awakened Shrubs. The setting is a shrine that's been overtaken by these cult members, who are trying to convert the shrine to their own purposes. Going to play it tonight. Looking forward to it.
How did it go?
3d10 Inflict wounds is a strong hit when your facing these guys at low levels
1:
They can upcast it to level 2, making them able to do 4d10. 4d10 can one-hit many level 2s (even with average damage).
4d10 = 4*5.5 = 22 damage. Level 2 wizard with 12 CON = 6+1+4+1 = 12 hp. If the wizard has any hp missing, then that is an auto-kill. Even with no damage, the wizard is dying.
Shouldn’t wizards generally have higher con so they can maintain concentration more easily?
Sometimes, but most wizard players dump STR and CON, and just hope they don’t get hit.
omg i didn't know what you meant and then was high planning my next sesh and as a joke clicked on the pronunciation. amazing.
Any tips for using these? I had a cult fanatic named the stirge lord, and his combat was rather messy. He got wombo-comboed in like 3 rounds, and before that he oneshot one of the PCs.
What level was the PCs? Combats can swing like that just depending on rolls, nothing you did wrong! I had my level 6 party fight a Bulette and they restrained it and obliterated it within in game time 6 seconds, aka 1 round. But when I added a second one, that one independently knocked the warlock in one bite and had everyone else on deaths door! It all comes down to the rolls in the end.
