a very good boy
seems like the dire wolf is really plain compared to lets say a pseudodragon the pseudodragon can talk and do all kinds of stuff. The dire wold is just like a bigger wolf? is there a way to make this thing more interesting? I'm creating a tabaxi wizard/ fighter and I'm multiclassing into a ranger to get the beastmaster thing. I was thinking my pseudodragon could be my well magical familiar and the wolf would be there for well battles and stuff. So to recap, is there a way to make the dire wolf more interesting for my wizard fighter who has two animal familiars?
I think my character would ride that wolf everywhere and my pseudodragon would be like tucked into my jacket sooooooo cute I love dragons and puppy dogs! p.s can a ranger beastmaster have two animal familiars?
broooo im a wolf now pog
As a GM when encountering a creature I always try and work in something extra. Some strange ability that is unique to this particular creature. My particular dire wolf pack that I am using have an added chameleon like ability. A variant of Dire Wolf that just makes them that much more scary and sneaky. Also if you befriend one, tame one, or call one as a steed/familiar, well imagine the benefits! I love homebrewing my monsters.
poggers
im unsure can i use the dire wolf as my wild shape or does it need to be normal wolf?
I propose a new origin to "Dire" creatures rather than emulating the evolutionary origins of our own reality.
If a werewolf mates with a humanoid the offspring is also a lycanthrope, but, when a "were" creature mates in their animal form with a non-human creature the offspring is a "dire" creature. These offspring can pass on the "dire" genetic trait but not lycanthropy.
No, but it is cool
Pretty cool
Very big boi
you can if you take circle of the moon
Literally would be the coolest things to have as an animal companion.
yeah it's a large creature and your half orc is medium if your dm says you can have it then it's fine
A relative of the winter wolf and almost the same deadly, cunning, smart and stealthy.
