Keen Hearing and Smell. The wolf has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.
Pack Tactics. The wolf has advantage on an attack roll against a creature if at least one of the wolf's allies is within 5 feet of the creature and the ally isn't incapacitated.
Actions
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (2d6 + 3) piercing damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 13 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
as a first time DM would it be smart for me to make a beginner quest wolves with a dire wolf miniboss?
just remember that pack tactics can quickly tip the balance of power, and you should be fine.
DC 13 strength check. If its too big it may be too strong to knock over.
oooh i wanna give ear scatchies and belly rubs
great for level 2 druid.
yes
It means that 10 is the average damage 2d6+3 will deal I don't know if it is necessarily the average but anyway, the intention behind it is that DMs can deal that much damage when the Dire Wolf attacks instead of having to roll damage for every attack.
RIGHT ON! RIGHT ON!
nice
yo
I like this animal
turning into a dire wolf as a level five Druid helps a lot
A dire wolf (Irl at least) is essentially just a giant, very fluffy wolf, as a timber wolf has a shoulder height of about 2.5 ft, the dire wolf has one of about 3.5 ft, dire wolves (Irl) are about 2ft longer than timber wolves as well. as a dire wolf is an actual extinct animal, I can't imagine that D&D would have changed its appearance. so yea, just big fluffy wolf =)
I have a Shadow Magic Sorcerer. I just realized that the Hound of Ill Omen could theoretically knock ANY creature of ANY size prone. Including Gargantuan dragons under RAW.
You may want to revisit the abilities section of the PHB... Survival is a wisdom based skill. Knowing which animals might hurt you is a survival skill.
I like this one xx
h e g o t h u n g r y =)
