Description
Kobolds are craven reptilian humanoids that commonly infest dungeons. They make up for their physical ineptitude with a cleverness for trap making.
the better goblin tbh
You forgot that tiamat is invincible. Thats cannon. She can also do almost anything with in a 10 mile radius. Also if other gods have trouble with her then you yourself would need to be a god to even challenge her. Plus you will be in hell when you fight her so good luck with that part. Your character does sound cool and powerful tho. I turned my kobold follower into a amethyst dragon born like me using the powers of a sphinx and i made her a rogue. Im a wizard rn and we are both level 5. Her name is Irene and my wizard now sees her as his grand daughter.
All ranged weapons use dex.
MY BOY!
I am wondering how to make a Kobold as a character
I’m wondering that as well
I nearly wiped my entire party with six of these lil' guys. One of my favorite things to do with these guys is scattering little outposts around a dungeon. The outposts are filled with traps and barriers. My party was fighting the Kobolds in a narrow cave filled with pillars, spiked barriers, bear traps, and crossbow traps.
My players aren't the smartest, and I used the Kobolds to lure them into the bear traps, which in turn trigger the crossbows. It was a bloodbath. They went for the Cleric first, who jumped the traps. I then had one of the Kobolds run behind them and attempt to knock them down. They dragged the Cleric into a trap, which caught both of their arms so they couldn't escape. The rest of the party was panicking at this point. The Barbarian decided to run in there to help the Cleric, but they forgot about the traps. Two of the Kobolds ganged up on the barbarian and knocked him out, and then went to help the other Kobolds fight the rest of the party. They were barely able to beat them.
Whoops!
Not sure why, but i always thought they would look like a small version of Toothless from HTYD
I got a pet kobold in my campaign
This is most used monster in my campaings.
There is a Kobold character race in monsters of the multiverse qdigital content pack
One of our players was given a Pack of Kobolds. We now use them on certain missions. So cool
these weak monsters can be a road block for a high level party if you give them the right items and make them have smart battle tactics
Kobolds > Goblins
best enemy
Quite strong for their Challenge Rating. Compare to CR 1/4 Goblins, goblins seem to be much stronger at first glance, with better gear and AC, but goblins using shortbows won't benefit from their shield. Kobolds have pack tactics.
-Goblins are weak glass cannons that can gear for either ranged, or melee frontline, but have terrible HP for their CR, AoEs spells, or sleep or color spray will tear them down.
If they can space themselves out, in cover, the range on their shortbows and ability to hide can make them dangerous.
-Kobolds are weaker, but at lower CR might be found in even higher numbers. If a gang of them manages to use pack tactics, they'll dish out a shocking amount of damage quickly.
Short sling range makes it harder for them to spread out in cover, but a few missed attacks or wasted spells can make it feel like it takes forever to kill them, while they pelt you with stones.
I recommend awarding a bit of bonus XP to any fight that has more than 5 or so kobolds, since they give so little XP but can hurt you.
same
i was a player in a campaign once where a kobold was kept hostage by two hags, and my halfling bard was the only person in the party who treated him with respect (he recognized a fellow 'little guy') and the two struck up a bit of a friendship---which evolved into a romance for the bit. really glad our dm thought that was as funny as i did.
Kobolds are a great monster and can be super dangerous. We were TPK'd by a group of Kobolds who used traps, explosions and hit and run tactics to easily defeat us.
While I get that they aren't meant to be clever, I do think their wisdom and intelligence should be higher to reflect their cunning and trap making skills. Maybe a high wisdom would reflect this.
I can tell lol :)
