Description
Lizardfolk are primitive reptilian humanoids that lurk in swamps and jungles. Fiercely territorial, they kill when it is expedient and do whatever it takes to survive.
Describe the following to your players to provide better immersion - (show, don't tell during their first encounter):
The tall reptilian humanoid is a powerfully built creature representing the cross between a lizard and a human. It has clawed hands, a multi-colored casque on the top of its head, a long tail, and a protruding face with a lizard's nose and sharp yellow eyes along with a set of massive toothy jaws.
In addition, you might want to allow them an Intelligence - Nature check to know the following (accumulated - a roll of 25 or above would know all):
DC5 (very easy): attacks with a bite and a melee weapon
DC10 (easy): can hold its breath under water for fifteen minutes - ability to swim
DC15 (medium): does not have any damage resistances nor damage vulnerabilities
DC20 (hard): does not have any damage immunities
DC25 (very hard): does not have immunity to any conditions
Been known to ride Giant Lizards
I hate these things.
I've been playing with very odd lizardfolk for an experiment. I claimed that several 'kings' were subverted by a dragon, who then half forced, half negotiated wiht them to form a pact they would provide wealth and the dragon would protect them. fast-forward a few centuries and the lizard kings have learnt from the dragon and the people they've been obliged to raid and have created a strong civilization, a functioning military machine (picture dragon-clerics on chariots lobbing guiding bolts liberally), whilst also constructing huge fortresses for their defence and in glory of the dragon they worship as a god.
I found that treating the lizardfolk as a vaguely intelligent race actually made them a lot less of a jokey, encounter and attack type group, or give baubles too. I dont know why i decided to do this but having the lizards as major players in the world has made things a lot... stranger.
****in love these things. That social interaction side of the game's gonna be taken for a ride when the other side barely understands common and doesn't get why you're saying that eating people is bad, while also not being evil at all.
I play in a world where lizardfolk are a peaceful, family bound, playable race with a WIS bonus. Not much like these guys, but super fun.
this is what they look like?! This guy asked me to be one in a campaign!😡
You basically just described Dark Sun, 112358132134. Which is awesome.
These are cool though
I'm wishing the spiked shield got a real printing in a weapon place somewhere and some rules.
Preferably giving +1ac, and being a simple weapon. but i'm biased
Like humans ride giant monkeys?
More like humans riding horses.
Search internet for images for "giant lizard rider d&d" and you'll understand :)
I know, obviously. It was sarcasm.
why can't I use them to make a character on this website plz respond so I can know
Obviously we would if we could!
This entry should have a +4 to stealth, not a +2
The Lizardfolk are a playable race. We have one in our campaign now... a Druid. It's an awesome character!
The race is described in detail in Volo's Guide to Monsters. If you had that [purchased] on D&D Beyond, you should be able to create a playable character.
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh thanks
I am a player in the campaign I am playing in I am going to build a lizardfolk kingdom by getting small tribes to follow me. I will be a lizardfolk wizard.
