False Appearance. While the precious teddy remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from a normal teddy bear.

Ally's Shield. When an ally within 5 feet of the precious teddy is targeted by an attack, that ally and the precious teddy can swap places. If they do, the precious teddy becomes the target of the attack instead.

Woven Mind. If the precious teddy becomes Charmed, Frightened, or Stunned it ignores the effects of that condition and instead takes 1 psychic damage at the start of its turn for each of those conditions currently affecting it.

Darning. If the precious teddy has died within the last hour a mending spell cast on it restores 1 hit point.

Actions

Multiattack. The precious teddy makes two claw attacks.

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 2) slashing damage.

Reactions

Saviour. When an ally within 5 feet of the precious teddy is targeted by a spell that requires a saving throw and targets only that creature, that ally and the precious teddy can swap places. If they do, the precious teddy becomes the target of the spell instead.

Description

A precious teddy is a stuffed, bipedal toy bear construct brought to life. With button eyes, soft fur bodies, and tummies full of fluff they seem sure to charm the hearts of most children. Many who own a precious teddy also dress them up in fine clothes.

Caretakers. In an attempt to reduce the childcare costs associated with orphanages a clever artificer developed what he believed to be a grand (and profitable) idea: Leave most of the childcare to a friendly, furry construct. The stuffed bear would be able to attend to a child's medical and emotional needs, and essentially replace the costly humanoid aspect of child rearing. After much labour, the Precious Teddy was released onto the world.

Noble Adoption. Becoming rather more popular with the wealthy of the region as opposed to the orphanages the construct was originally intended for, it became rare to see a wealthy child not walking arm-in-arm with the adorable Precious Teddy.

These creatures are still owned by many families, some of whom pass them down through the generations. Others have been discarded and repurposed by those who scrounge garbage piles.

Corrupted Toy. However, as children grew older and lost the love of their constructed companions, the Precious Teddys found themselves left behind. Abandoned. On occasion left in boxes on shelves, or others partially destroyed. The loss of humanoid attention and upkeep has been seen to pervert this precious toy into a Forgotten Teddy - a murderous construct that wanders the world looking for a new owner, and letting nothing stop it from its course.
