What Is Revel's End?
Revel's End is a prison located in the frigid north of the Sword Coast in a region known as Icewind Dale. The prison first appeared in Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden, where it served as a setpiece to contain the region's dangerous criminals. An impenetrable fortress carved from a tall, blade-shaped rock, Revel's End is situated on the shore of the Sea of Moving Ice, allowing it to be accessed by land, sea, or airship.
The prison is under the control of the Lord's Alliance, and they use it to house those that have committed serious crimes against the member's cities, including Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter, and Waterdeep.
Any way you look at it, Revel's End is a tough nut to crack. The unforgiving environment, total isolation, and fortress-like defenses make the prison all but impenetrable. That is, unless you know the right crew.
Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept It
You've been hired to infiltrate Revel's End and extract information from one of the prison's earliest inmates, a dwarven crime boss now known as Prisoner 13. How you break into the jail and gain the intel is up to you.
What You'll Find in the Prisoner 13 Adventure
Prisoner 13 contains everything you need to run a heist-based adventure for 4th-level characters:
- A player's version of the map so they can formulate a plan
- Adventure hooks so that DMs can add this adventure to their ongoing campaign
- Profiles on key NPCs
- A detailed sandbox environment for players to explore and execute their plan
- A stat block for Prisoner 13
How to Access Prisoner 13
After claiming your copy of Prisoner 13, you can find the unlocked adventures in your Sourcebooks collection. To access your collection of sourcebooks, open the Sources menu. Then, beside "Sourcebooks," select "View All." From there, you'll find Prisoner 13.
It is so unfortunate that the digital product is coming before the physical copies.
Please support your local bookstores, folks. Practically all Belo Horizonte (Brazil) bookstores selling TTRPG have ended, and even the big book stores that once supported conventions are now relegating it to the back of the comic book shelves. It's so terrible.
I love how you're communicating this over the Internet. Yes, electrons move faster than shipping dead trees in metal boxes powered by very dead dinosaurs. FLGSs are going to adapt to being play spaces / memorabilia vendors rather than book sellers (might still be a market for Collector's Editions). That's every business these days. You've got to do something that can't be done faster, easier, & cheaper thru a smartphone, or you'll be going out of business in 5... 4... 3... 2...
Great
I’m not really into heists
Often times, WOTC/DnD Beyond will release some kind of free DM/Player tool in anticipation of a book release. They did this for Spelljammer, Journeys through the Radient Citadel, and Dragonlance - just to name a few sourcebooks as examples. They also released lost mines of phandelver as a free campaign ahead of the expanded campaign book release date later this year. I'm glad they've kept to the tradition of release some type of free material for the Keys from the Golden Vault heists book.
Good series
Very Cool
As far as I can tell, they aren't making any changes to the bundle 'trial' for this release different from the last one. This means your legendary bundle discount isn't honoured, it will likely be cheaper to buy individually, and I'm certain that those who preorder will (unbelievably!) not necessarily receive their books on the day of the release. There really is little, if any, reason to preorder via this route. Continuous Improvement/Kaizen is obviously not utilised at WotC/Hasbro!
Looks good
Thank goodness I was not the only one who thought that looks like vi from arcane
I’ll stand on my principles unless it’s free!
It's more transparent that they have always offered periodic free items and that if a competitor of theirs were offering free stuff you would be praising them over WotCs "monetization".
Don't let a bad situation cloud everything you see. That's worse for you than for WotC.
Given the hundreds of thousands of worlds people play in no one version of this story can be run without some modifications to fit your world and your players. Many would have to massively rewrite your version to make it fit fun in their world.
Writing campaigns for the masses is like cooking for the masses. It has to be a little bland to account for everyone's tastes. Sure additional lore and such would be great. But this base adventure can be a great starting point for millions, if for nothing else, to inspire versions like yours that maybe you wouldn't have thought out without this jump start.
Did Mike Schley make the maps? Looks like his style, but there's no attribution. Great content!
i was just thinking those tattoos better be new magic items available in the book
What do I need to do?

It’s not the lore that’s the issue, it’s the heist element, where’s the complications, the twist? Why no prison riot or double crossing contact? Why isn’t the warden corrupt or there a moral complication.
there have literally gone “here’s the exact text word for word about the prison plus an extra NPC, go get some information from them. The end”
it’s quite insulting as it would have taken a lazy afternoon to write this chapter.
Thanks!
