What's in Descent into the Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth?
Iggwilv, the Witch Queen, was a powerful entity known for her magical mastery, cunning, and propensity to ally with demons to further her goals. The Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth were once her lair, but Iggwilv has not been heard from in decades.
As is fitting for the former lair of a dangerously magical individual, these caverns are said to be brimming with treasure, magical artifacts, and danger.
Descent into the Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth is a remastered version of the iconic, first-edition dungeon crawl, The Lost Caverns of Tsojconth, a tournament adventure written by Gary Gygax, the co-founder of D&D.
This updated adventure is suitable for 9th-level characters and can be completed in a single three- to four-hour session. The appendices contain exclusive magical items that the party will receive if they successfully navigate the dungeon, a new stat block for the pech, six premade characters with D&D Beyond and downloadable PDF character sheets, and optional tournament scoring rules.
The expanded version of this adventure, Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth, has been updated for the fifth edition as well and appears in the upcoming adventure collection, Quests from the Infinite Staircase, releasing July 16!

How Does Tournament Scoring Work?
The tournament scoring rules included with this adventure are meant to add a fun twist to your games. These rules are optional, you don't need to use them to run the adventure. If you're playing at a convention or a local game store, they can be used to determine the highest-performing party to win prizes. If you're using these rules during your home game, they are simply a means for bragging rights.
Dungeon Masters can use the provided scoring system to track the party's progress, with points being added or subtracted based on the party's actions.
The adventure operates within a strict four-hour time limit, so characters must make quick decisions and be strategic in battles. Additionally, to maintain the challenge, characters are limited to one short rest throughout the session and cannot take long rests.

This is really good! I'm definitely going to use this.
I was reading this and was tempted to run it; however, it's also very annoying that the players can reach the entrance of the greater cavern and the DM has to tell them "And we'll pick this back up maybe in four months." That delay will kill many of my player's motivation to continue this adventure.
The link to the content is a 404-error page.
This looks well written, keen to see the full product.
I agree, I know I at least will either wait until the book releases or not run it at all
There are a couple errors in the DM map.
L19 is used twice. The Black Lake should be labeled with L18.
The description for the crushing trap in L4 says "Whenever a creature enters the area marked on the map..." but there is no "marked area"
other than that, it seems like a nice setup for a one shot.
I am not able to see the content - I get a 404-error on every computer and every browser I try.
Yeah, I noticed those errors. I suppose they're easy enough to fix. It's worth noting, though, that this isn't actually the full Lost Caverns. It looks like (if I've understood the message at the end) that there's at least more included in the final version.
That Iggwilv art is excellent. Dare say better than her current monster sheet art.
I would love to see more content like this, a ready-to-run one-shot with claimable, premade characters. This makes it easy to run games for new players or to add to an existing group.
I'm guessing this little adventure doesn't have a support forum yet, so ...
The DM map for this adventure lists area L19 twice, once for the cave of crystals (which is correct), and again for the black-water lake, which should be area L18.

Thank you!!! That looks sick
It seems like not all the monsters are being unlocked for people who don't on the requisite monster books. It's kinda frustrating to ask people to buy a $30 Monster Manual unlock to potential run a free adventure.
Is there any way that this and similar digital-only offerings/previews could also be provided in pdf format? I love the searchability of D&D beyond, but at the table I want paper and would love to be able to print a pdf. It was awesome when pdfs were available for the first Monstrous Compendium for Spelljammer, for example.
Thanks for considering!
Thank you!
Hey, the pregen characters each only have one ASI or feat listed in their features despite being level 9 (with the exception of the fighter who has 2). Is there a reason for this? It looks like the fourth level ASI is just missing from all of them.
Ya, that was my player's consensus as well.
I'd guess it because in the Basic Rules, the only feat is grappler, and so as a FREE to run one shot at level 9, I don't think grappler fits any of these builds. If you claim the characters on your DDB account, you can change the sheets before giving them to your players.
I like it but just one suggestion when your going to put 3 large monsters in a room make sure the room fits 3 large monsters.
Not really sure about this adventure, but usually the squares in a dungeon map like this are not combat grid squares. Originally, those maps were only for the DM and you would draw the room in a graph paper to your players in a coherent dimension. But again, not sure about this adventure
